Rajasthan’s Anuj Agnihotri Secures Top Rank in UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025

Anuj Agnihotri, a resident of Rawatbhata in Rajasthan, has achieved the coveted All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. His journey from a small town to the pinnacle of one of India’s toughest competitive exams is a story of persistence, clarity of purpose, and dedicated effort.

From Medical Studies to Civil Services

Anuj’s academic path is notably distinct. He began his MBBS at AIIMS Jodhpur in 2017. However, during his medical education, he realized that his ambition extended beyond clinical practice. He felt that creating meaningful societal change required not just medical expertise but also administrative authority and responsibility. After discussing his aspirations with his parents, he decided to pivot towards preparing for the civil services examination.

This decision marked the beginning of a focused and challenging journey. Anuj dedicated himself to the UPSC preparation, ultimately achieving the top rank in his third attempt. His success underscores the importance of adaptability and following one’s true calling, even when it means leaving a well-established professional track.

Family Background and Early Education

Anuj comes from a supportive family rooted in service. His father, Krishna Bihari, works as a technician at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station, while his mother is a homemaker. Their encouragement played a crucial role in his ability to pursue his goals without distraction.

His foundational education was completed at the Atomic Energy Central School in Rawatbhata, where he passed his Class 10 examinations. For his senior secondary education, he moved to Kota, a city renowned for its coaching ecosystem, and studied at M.B. Public Senior Secondary School, completing his Class 12.

The Turning Point: Focusing on UPSC

After securing admission to AIIMS Jodhpur through the medical entrance exam, Anuj completed his MBBS degree. He finished his medical internship in 2023. Following this milestone, he made the decisive move to focus entirely on civil services preparation. This full-time commitment allowed him to channel all his energy into the extensive syllabus and rigorous demands of the UPSC exam.

His profile serves as an inspiring example for aspirants from non-metropolitan backgrounds. It demonstrates that with clear thinking, relentless hard work, and proper guidance, candidates from any part of the country can succeed in the administrative services.
