Delhi Govt Opens Admissions for 12 Special Schools: Key Dates and Process

The Delhi government has officially initiated the admission process for the upcoming academic session across 12 government-run and government-aided special schools in the capital. These institutions are specifically designed to cater to children with diverse learning needs, offering tailored educational support for students with visual impairments and intellectual disabilities.

Parents and guardians looking to secure admission for their children can begin the online registration process from March 9. The registration window will remain open until March 17, as confirmed by the Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi. This admission drive covers classes ranging from nursery all the way up to Class 10 and Class 12, ensuring a broad spectrum of educational levels are included.

Document Verification Scheduled Between March 18 and 23

Following the successful completion of the online registration phase, families will be required to visit their respective schools in person. The submission and verification of all necessary documents will take place from March 18 to March 23. This verification process will be conducted during regular school working hours, so parents should plan their visits accordingly to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience.

School Allocation to Take Place on April 1

The Directorate of Education has outlined a clear timeline for seat distribution. Based on the availability of seats and the number of applications received, students will be allocated their respective schools on April 1. The department has set an ambitious target to wrap up the entire admission procedure by April 2, ensuring minimal delay for families awaiting confirmation.

Draw of Lots for Oversubscribed Classes

In situations where a particular class receives more applications than there are available seats, the selection process will be conducted through a transparent lottery system. This draw of lots is scheduled to take place on March 24 at 11:00 AM. The proceedings will be conducted in the presence of school management committee members and parents, ensuring complete transparency and fairness in the selection process.

Final List Submission on March 25

Once the document scrutiny and selection procedures are finalized, the principals of the respective schools will compile and submit the final list of selected students. This list will be forwarded to the Inclusive Education Branch headquarters on March 25, marking a crucial milestone in the admission timeline.

Fill-Up of Vacant Seats Through Waiting List

In the event that certain seats remain vacant after the initial allocation, students on the waiting list will be given an opportunity to secure admission. This subsequent round of admissions will take place between April 3 and April 5, with students being called in according to their position on the waiting list. This ensures that all available seats are optimally utilized and deserving candidates do not miss out on educational opportunities.

Specialized Facilities for Divyang Students

These 12 special schools have been thoughtfully established with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility. They provide specialized teaching facilities and resources designed specifically for children with visual impairments and intellectual disabilities. The schools are equipped with trained educators and appropriate learning materials to support the unique educational requirements of these students.

It is important to note that the age criteria and disability categories for admission have been determined according to the prevailing rules and guidelines. Parents are advised to review these requirements carefully before initiating the registration process to ensure their child meets the eligibility criteria.

With a well-structured timeline and clear procedural guidelines, the Delhi government aims to make this admission season smooth and accessible for all families seeking quality education for children with special needs. The systematic approach, from registration to final seat allocation, reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusive education and equal opportunities for every child.
