Delhi University Announces UG Admission Policy for 2026-27
The University of Delhi has officially released its undergraduate admission policy for the academic year 2026-27. Aspirants seeking admission to various undergraduate programmes at DU will be required to appear for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG 2026), continuing the same admission framework as previous years. The detailed information brochure has been made available on the Common Seat Allocation System (UG) portal, allowing candidates to review the complete guidelines and procedures.
CUET Subject Restriction Remains Unchanged
One of the key highlights of this year’s admission policy is that the university has decided to maintain its existing subject eligibility criteria. Candidates will be permitted to take the CUET examination only in those subjects that they studied at the Class 12 level. This decision comes despite the University Grants Commission (UGC) offering flexibility to students by allowing them to attempt CUET in subjects outside their Class 12 curriculum.
While the UGC has relaxed its earlier stance on this matter, Delhi University has chosen to adhere to its traditional approach. The university has explicitly stated that students must restrict their CUET subject choices to those that were part of their senior secondary coursework. This ensures continuity and consistency in the admission process for the upcoming session.
Registration Guidelines for Different Applicant Categories
The university has outlined specific registration procedures for various categories of applicants. Understanding these requirements is essential for a smooth application process.
Regular Students
Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are eligible to apply under the regular category. All applicants, including those seeking admission under the supernumerary quota, must complete their registration for CUET UG 2026 through the official examination portal. After successfully qualifying in the entrance test, candidates need to register separately on the CSAS (UG) portal to participate in the seat allocation process.
School of Open Learning (SOL)
Candidates interested in securing admission to the School of Open Learning must complete their registration on the dedicated SOL portal. A notable difference for SOL and NCWEB admissions is that the selection process will not be based on CUET scores. Instead, merit will be determined using Class 12 marks, providing an alternative pathway for students who prefer distance education.
Non-Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB)
Applicants wishing to join NCWEB programmes need to register through the designated admission portal. The board currently offers two undergraduate courses in Arts and Commerce streams. Similar to SOL, admission to NCWEB will be granted based on the merit scores obtained in Class 12 examinations, rather than CUET performance.
International Students
For foreign nationals seeking admission to Delhi University, a dedicated provision has been made with 10 percent supernumerary seats reserved across all programmes. The university has established a separate registration portal specifically for international applicants, ensuring a streamlined process for overseas students.
CUET UG Subject List for 2026
The university has announced that there will be no modifications to the CUET subject list this year. The subject combinations under List A and List B remain identical to the previous academic session. Delhi University comprises 91 affiliated colleges, 86 academic departments, and 16 faculties, catering to more than 6.5 lakh students.
In the previous year, five subjects were removed from List B, including Legal Studies, Engineering Graphics, Teacher Training, Entrepreneurship, and Knowledge Traditions and Practices of India. This year, the structure continues with 14 languages under List A and 22 subjects under List B.
