NEET UG 2026 Application Window Now Open

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the notification for the NEET UG 2026 entrance examination, marking the beginning of the application process for aspiring medical students across the country. Candidates who wish to pursue undergraduate medical courses can now complete their registration through the official examination portal. The application process has been activated, and interested students are encouraged to submit their forms well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute technical complications.

The registration system accepts fee payments through multiple digital channels, including credit cards, debit cards, net banking, and UPI. This flexibility ensures that candidates from various backgrounds can complete their transactions without difficulty. The final date for successful fee remittance is set for March 8, 2026, at 11:50 PM. For those who may need to rectify any errors in their submitted applications, a dedicated correction window will remain open from March 10 to March 12, 2026.

Exam Schedule and Key Dates

The NEET UG 2026 examination is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2026. Candidates will have a total duration of 180 minutes, or three hours, to complete the test. The examination will be conducted in a single shift, commencing at 2:00 PM and concluding at 5:00 PM Indian Standard Time. This standardized timing ensures uniformity across all examination centers nationwide.

Information regarding the allotted examination city and the release of admit cards will be communicated through the official NTA platforms. Candidates are advised to regularly check these channels for updates and to download their hall tickets as soon as they become available. The admit card is a mandatory document for entry into the examination hall, and no candidate will be permitted to sit for the exam without it.

Language Options for the Examination

To accommodate the linguistic diversity of aspirants, the examination will be conducted in thirteen different languages. These include Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. This multilingual approach ensures that candidates can attempt the paper in the language they are most comfortable with, thereby promoting equal opportunity for all.

Required Documents and Upload Specifications

Applicants must prepare several documents in advance to ensure a smooth submission process. The following items are mandatory for uploading during the application procedure:

  • A recent passport-sized photograph taken after January 1, 2025, ensuring it meets the specified dimensions and clarity requirements
  • A scanned copy of the candidate’s signature
  • Scanned images of both left and right hand fingerprints, including thumb impressions
  • Citizenship certificate, if applicable to the candidate’s specific situation
  • Social category certificate or proof of application, for those belonging to reserved categories
  • Class 10 mark sheet and passing certificate, or an equivalency certificate that converts CGPA/grades into percentage and clearly displays the date of birth
  • PwBD/PwD certificate for candidates with disabilities, wherever applicable

All uploaded documents must be clear and legible. Candidates should verify that the details mentioned in these documents match the information provided in their application form to prevent discrepancies that could lead to disqualification.

Application Fee Structure

The application fee for NEET UG 2026 varies based on the candidate’s category and the location of the chosen examination center. For examination centers within India, the fee structure is as follows:

  • General (GEN), EWS, and OBC-NCL candidates: ₹1,700
  • SC, ST, PwBD, and Third Gender candidates: ₹1,600
  • Female candidates across all categories: ₹1,000

For those opting to take the examination at centers located outside India, the application fee is set at ₹9,500. This fee is collected in two parts as per the guidelines outlined in the official notification. Candidates should carefully review the complete fee schedule and payment instructions before initiating the transaction.

Step-by-Step Application Process

To successfully register for NEET UG 2026, candidates must follow a systematic approach. The process involves several stages, each of which requires careful attention to detail:

Begin by visiting the official NTA NEET website. Once on the homepage, locate and click on the ‘New Registration’ link to initiate the process. It is essential to read all instructions thoroughly before proceeding to the next step. After reviewing the guidelines, click on the ‘Proceed’ button to continue.

The next stage involves generating an application number and password by filling in the required basic details. This credential will be used for all subsequent logins and communications. After successful generation, log in using the provided credentials and complete the application form by entering personal details, academic qualifications, and preferences for examination cities.

Following the completion of the form, upload all the mandatory documents in the specified format and size. Ensure that each file meets the requirements to avoid rejection. After uploading, proceed to the payment section and remit the applicable fee using any of the available payment methods. Once the payment is successfully processed, submit the application form.

Finally, after submission, it is highly recommended to take a printout of the completed application form and store it safely for future reference. This document may be required during the counseling process or for any verification purposes.
