NTA Extends NIFTEE 2026 Application Deadline to January 13

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially extended the registration window for the National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE) 2026. Candidates who have not yet submitted their applications can now do so until January 13, 2026, giving them additional time to complete the process.

Originally, the deadline was set for January 6, 2026. With this extension, aspiring applicants now have a wider window to file their submissions without any late fee implications.

Updated Schedule for NIFTEE 2026

The revised timeline applies not only to the standard application window but also to those who miss the regular deadline. The NTA has also adjusted the dates for late registration and correction windows. Here is a quick breakdown of the new schedule:

  • Regular application deadline: January 13, 2026 (Tuesday)
  • Late fee application window: January 14 to January 16, 2026
  • Correction window (online only): January 18 to January 19, 2026

Reason Behind the Extension

The decision to push back the deadline was made to accommodate a larger number of eligible candidates across different regions. This is especially relevant in light of the recent addition of new examination centres. The NTA aims to ensure that every potential applicant gets a fair chance to complete their registration without unnecessary stress.

Two New Exam Cities Added

In a related development, the NTA has expanded the list of exam cities for NIFT 2026. Two new locations have been added to the roster: Vapi in Gujarat, and Daman, which falls under the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. This expansion is intended to make the examination more accessible to students residing in and around these areas.

With these additions, the total number of NIFT 2026 exam cities has increased from 100 to 102. An official notice from the agency confirmed that the move was made specifically to benefit candidates from these regions.

Application Fees and Late Charges

The online registration process for NIFTEE 2026 is currently active and will remain open until the newly extended deadline on the official examination portal. The NTA has also revised the fee structure for this cycle. For candidates belonging to the General, OBC-NCL, and EWS categories, the application fee for a single paper has been reduced to ₹2,000. Meanwhile, applicants from the SC, ST, and PwD categories are required to pay ₹500.

For those who are unable to submit their applications by the regular deadline, the late registration window offers a second chance. During this period, which runs from January 14 to January 16, candidates can still apply by paying a late fee of ₹5,000 in addition to the standard application fee. This provision ensures that no serious applicant is left out simply due to a missed deadline.

All submissions and corrections are to be completed online, and candidates are advised to review their application details carefully before final submission.
