Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed that the world is turning its gaze toward India with renewed optimism, driven largely by the nation’s demographic dividend and its accelerating progress in science, technology, and innovation. Speaking during his monthly radio address, he highlighted how these achievements are positioning India as a formidable and inspiring presence on the global stage.
Modi underscored that the country’s advancements have not gone unnoticed internationally. He pointed out that the combination of a dynamic young population and a robust culture of creativity and technological development has become a beacon of hope for many nations looking at India’s trajectory with keen interest.
A Dialogue with the Nation’s Future Leaders
During the broadcast, the Prime Minister also looked ahead to the upcoming celebration of National Youth Day, scheduled for January 12th to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. He announced that this year’s observance will feature a special interactive session titled ‘Young Leaders’ Dialogue,’ an initiative designed to channel the energy and ideas of the country’s youth.
“Today, the world is watching India with great anticipation,” Modi remarked. “The primary reason for this hope is our young power. Our achievements in science, our fresh innovations, and the expansion of technology have deeply impressed countries across the globe.”
The Prime Minister elaborated on the dialogue, stating that it serves as a platform for young minds to engage directly with national priorities. He noted that participants will have the opportunity to discuss critical subjects such as innovation, fitness, startups, and agriculture. Expressing his personal enthusiasm for the event, he confirmed his participation and shared his excitement about hearing the perspectives of the next generation of leaders.
Fostering a Spirit of Contribution
Modi acknowledged the innate curiosity and drive that characterize Indian youth. He observed that many young individuals frequently approach him with questions about how they can further contribute to nation-building and share their unique ideas. He traced this spirit back to the inaugural edition of the ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue’ held last year, which laid the groundwork for this ongoing conversation between the government and its youth. Smart India Hackathon: A Crucible for Problem-Solving
Turning his attention to the realm of grassroots innovation, the Prime Minister highlighted the Smart India Hackathon as a key example of how young talent is being harnessed to address real-world challenges. He described it as a vital platform where theoretical ideas are transformed into practical solutions, allowing students to showcase their skills and creativity.
Modi provided specific details about the latest edition of the hackathon, which concluded this month. He noted the impressive scale of participation, with students tackling more than 270 problem statements submitted by over 80 government departments. The solutions presented were not merely academic exercises; they addressed pressing, real-life issues, including complex traffic management challenges.
Reflecting on the hackathon’s broader impact, the Prime Minister shared impressive statistics from the past seven to eight years. He revealed that over 1.3 million students from more than 6,000 institutions have participated in this initiative, generating precise and actionable solutions for hundreds of problems.
Addressing Modern Challenges with Youthful Ingenuity
The Prime Minister commended the youth for their contributions to tackling some of the most pressing contemporary issues. He specifically mentioned the innovative ideas put forward regarding financial fraud and the emerging threat of ‘digital arrest’ scams. Students have also offered valuable suggestions for building a robust cybersecurity framework to support digital banking in rural areas, a critical need as financial services become increasingly digitized.
Beyond the digital realm, Modi noted that many young participants are dedicating their efforts to solving challenges in the agricultural sector. He encouraged all young people to actively participate in these periodic hackathons, emphasizing that these platforms are instrumental in not only finding solutions but also in fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving across the nation.
