Delhi’s 75 CM Shri Schools to Undergo Major High-Tech Transformation

In a significant push toward modernizing the capital’s educational infrastructure, 75 CM Shri schools in Delhi are set to receive a comprehensive upgrade. With an approved budget of approximately ₹265 crore, these institutions will be transformed into state-of-the-art learning hubs featuring smart classrooms, advanced sports facilities, and dedicated science and technology parks.

Government Approves ₹264.90 Crore Modernization Plan

The Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC), chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has given the green light to a proposal worth ₹264 crore 90 lakh 88 thousand. The initiative goes beyond routine repairs, aiming to redevelop school campuses into safe, technology-driven, and student-friendly environments. As part of the plan, the entrance gates of these schools will be redesigned, with the CM Shri logo and name prominently displayed across all buildings.

Infrastructure Overhaul and Campus Improvements

A major focus of the project is addressing long-standing infrastructure issues. Key upgrades include:

  • Repair of damaged plaster, dampness, and seepage problems in existing structures
  • Comprehensive waterproofing and fresh painting of school buildings
  • Renovation of boundary walls, fencing, and main entrances
  • Upgraded toilet blocks, drinking water facilities, and sewerage systems
  • Improved drainage networks to prevent waterlogging

Additionally, sports infrastructure will be developed where needed, and existing rainwater harvesting systems will be repaired and made fully operational to promote sustainable water management.

Focus on Inclusive and Accessible Design

The modernization drive places special emphasis on inclusivity. Schools will be equipped with disability-friendly features such as ramps, tactile pathways, and handrails to ensure that children with special needs can navigate the campus with ease and dignity. This aligns with the broader goal of creating an equitable learning environment for every student.

Smart Classrooms and Technology Parks

Among the most exciting additions are smart classrooms equipped with digital learning tools, which will enable interactive and engaging lessons. The plan also includes the development of dedicated science and technology parks within school premises, giving students hands-on exposure to innovation and applied learning. These facilities are expected to spark curiosity and encourage a deeper interest in STEM subjects from an early age.

Safety and Security Enhancements

To ensure a secure campus environment, the upgraded schools will feature CCTV surveillance systems. Combined with improved boundary walls and controlled entry points, these measures are designed to provide parents with peace of mind while students focus on their studies.

Timeline and Vision

The government has set a target to complete the entire transformation by the end of the next year. According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the objective is not merely to patch up old buildings but to create modern educational campuses where students can thrive in a safe, clean, inclusive, and technologically empowered atmosphere. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to elevating the standard of public education in Delhi and preparing students for the challenges of the future.
