Five-Day Holi Festival Begins at Mehandipur Balaji Temple
The grand five-day Holi festival at the revered Siddhpeeth Ghata Mehandipur Balaji temple in Dausa commenced on Saturday and will continue until March 4. As the festivities kicked off, devotees began gathering in large numbers, filling the town with a vibrant religious atmosphere. With thousands of pilgrims expected to visit, authorities have put extensive arrangements in place to manage the crowd and ensure a smooth experience.
Golden Robe and Ritual Offerings Mark the Inauguration
Under the guidance of temple chief priest Dr. Nareshpuri Maharaj, the self-manifested idol of Balaji Maharaj was anointed with a sacred five-element bath, known as Panchamrit Abhishek. Following this, the deity was adorned with exquisite ornaments and a golden robe was offered as a mark of devotion. A grand offering of fifty-six delicacies, or Chhappan Bhog, was presented to the lord. The festival was formally inaugurated with the Mangla Aarti, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the days ahead.
Devotees Flock to Multiple Shrines
After the aarti, pilgrims visited various sacred sites within the temple complex, including the shrines of Bhairav Baba, Pretraj Sarkar, Sitaram Darbar, Radha-Krishna, and Samadhi Wale Baba. Officials anticipate that lakhs of devotees from across the country will arrive during the festival, prompting comprehensive preparations to handle the influx.
Planned Religious Events and Special Amenities
Temple trust secretary M.K. Mathur shared that the festival will feature a series of religious programs, including a massive Holika Dahan, grand aartis, the Chhappan Bhog tableau, and a major yagna. To facilitate smooth darshan for devotees, the temple has implemented streamlined entry systems. Security is being bolstered with CCTV surveillance across the premises. For public convenience, drinking water stations have been set up, and advanced life-support ambulances along with medical teams are on standby for emergencies. An additional 250 security guards have been deployed specifically for crowd management.
Police and Administration Step Up Security Measures
To maintain order during the festival, the police and local administration have put special measures into effect. A total of 200 personnel from the Dausa and Karauli district police forces will be stationed for security duties. Within the town, entry for four-wheeled vehicles will be restricted. Pilgrims’ vehicles will be directed to park at the bus stand and designated government parking areas. Elderly and differently-abled devotees will be allowed to reach the temple using three-wheelers. Station House Officer Gaurav Pradhan is personally overseeing the monitoring of all arrangements to ensure everything runs smoothly.
