Union Education Minister Launches 41 Literary Works to Strengthen Classical Indian Languages
In a significant move to preserve and promote India’s rich linguistic heritage, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled 41 literary publications on Tuesday. These works were developed by the Centers of Excellence dedicated to Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and Odia languages.
A Commitment to India’s Literary Legacy
Speaking at the launch event, Minister Pradhan emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to popularize and safeguard the country’s literary traditions. He described Indian languages as vital vehicles of expression and reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering commitment to their growth and development.
The Minister further assured that financial constraints would not hinder these initiatives, noting that a comprehensive framework is currently being developed to support language promotion and scholarship.
Additional Releases and Inclusive Initiatives
Alongside the 41 literary works, the Minister also released 13 books produced by the Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT). Among the notable releases was a sign language interpretation series of the Tirukkural, a classic Tamil text. This particular initiative marks a significant step toward making India’s ancient wisdom accessible to the hearing-impaired community, reflecting a broader vision of inclusive education.
The event underscores the government’s strategic focus on classical languages as pillars of cultural identity. By supporting scholarly output and translation efforts, the initiative aims to bring these languages to a wider audience, both within India and internationally.
