NTA Issues Advisory for JEE Main 2026 Candidates in Nanded Amid Traffic Concerns
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important advisory for candidates appearing in the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam, specifically those assigned to test centres in Nanded, Maharashtra. The notice comes in response to an upcoming large-scale event that is expected to disrupt normal traffic flow in the city on the day of the examination.
Why the Advisory Was Issued
According to the NTA, the Maharashtra government is organising the “Hind Di Chadar Samagam” on 24 January to commemorate Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. This significant gathering is likely to cause considerable traffic congestion and route diversions across multiple areas of Nanded. Officials have warned that movement within the city could be severely affected, potentially delaying candidates who are not adequately prepared for the situation.
Recognising the potential disruption, the agency has urged all affected students to factor in extra travel time and make their way to their designated exam centres well ahead of the scheduled reporting time. The goal is to ensure that no candidate misses the examination due to unforeseen delays on the road.
Key Instructions for Candidates
In addition to advising early arrival, the NTA has laid out specific guidelines that candidates must follow on the day of the exam. These measures are intended to facilitate smoother security checks and identity verification processes, especially in light of the heightened crowd activity in the city.
- Carry Essential Documents: Every candidate must carry a printed copy of their admit card along with a valid, government-issued photo identification. Acceptable forms of ID include an Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence, or similar official documents.
- Expect Security and Traffic Checks: The NTA has indicated that authorities may conduct security screenings or traffic checkpoints in and around the city. Candidates should be prepared to present their admit card and ID proof at these points, making it essential to keep these documents easily accessible at all times.

Status of Admit Cards for 28 and 29 January Exams
The NTA has clarified that admit cards for the JEE Main exams scheduled on 28 and 29 January have not yet been released. Candidates waiting for these documents are advised to monitor the official examination portal regularly. Once the cards are made available, students will be able to download them directly from the NTA’s designated website using their login credentials.
Previous Rescheduling in West Bengal
In a related development, the NTA had earlier announced the postponement of the examination originally slated for 23 January in West Bengal. This decision was made in light of the Saraswati Puja festivities. Candidates who were initially assigned the 23 January date in that state will be provided with an alternative date within the ongoing Session 1 schedule. The agency has assured affected students that they will be accommodated without any loss of opportunity.
