NEET PG 2025 Round 3 Provisional Seat Allotment Released

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially released the provisional seat allotment results for Round 3 of the NEET PG 2025 counselling process. Candidates who participated in this stage can now check their allotment status by visiting the official counselling portal. This round has been designed primarily to fill the remaining vacant seats across participating medical institutions.

Reporting Schedule for Allotted Candidates

As per the revised schedule issued by MCC, candidates who have been allotted seats in Round 3 must complete their admission formalities at their assigned medical colleges between February 4 and February 11. It is essential for candidates to report within this specified window, as failure to do so may result in the cancellation of their allotted seat. Candidates are advised to carry all necessary documents and complete the verification process well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute complications.

Reasons Behind the Revised Counselling Timeline

The NEET PG counselling schedule underwent multiple revisions this year due to several contributing factors. Changes in seat availability, including both additions and removals, along with pending legal proceedings, significantly impacted the original timeline. MCC has clarified that the updated schedule has been prepared keeping in mind the ongoing case in the Supreme Court, ensuring that the counselling process remains compliant with judicial directives while addressing the needs of aspiring postgraduate medical students.

Increase in Seat Count Following Court Order

In a significant development, the Supreme Court permitted the addition of 49 postgraduate medical seats during the ongoing NEET PG counselling process. This decision came in response to the pending legal matter and has necessitated fresh adjustments within the counselling framework. With these additional seats now available, Round 3 has gained considerable importance as a crucial opportunity to fill the remaining vacancies and accommodate more candidates in postgraduate medical programmes across the country.

Major Reduction in Cut-Off Scores

In a notable policy decision, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved a substantial reduction in the NEET PG cut-off percentile, bringing it down to zero. Additionally, the minimum qualifying marks have been lowered to -40 for this round. This strategic move has been implemented with the objective of filling approximately 18,000 vacant postgraduate medical seats. By relaxing the eligibility criteria, the authorities aim to provide greater opportunities for candidates who may have narrowly missed the previous cut-off thresholds, thereby ensuring that more medical graduates can pursue specialisation in their chosen fields.

The counselling committee has urged all eligible candidates to regularly check the official website for updates and announcements. Candidates who have been allotted seats are encouraged to complete their reporting process promptly. Those who have not received allotments in this round may find opportunities in subsequent counselling rounds or institutional vacancy rounds, depending on the availability of seats and the overall counselling schedule.

This round’s outcome marks a critical juncture in the NEET PG 2025 admission cycle, as it directly impacts the academic plans of thousands of medical graduates seeking admission to postgraduate programmes. The combination of additional seats and relaxed cut-off criteria is expected to significantly improve the chances of admission for a larger number of candidates this year.
