CTET February 2026: Essential Documents and Reporting Guidelines
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to conduct the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) across more than 140 cities nationwide on February 7 and 8, 2026. With the exam scheduled in two separate shifts, the board has released a comprehensive set of instructions that candidates must follow to ensure smooth entry into examination centers. Additionally, requests to change the exam city, center, or date will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Exam Shift Timings
The examination will be conducted in two sessions on both days:
- Shift 1: 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM
- Shift 2: 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Candidates must report to their assigned center well before the reporting time mentioned on their admit card. It is advisable to plan your travel keeping buffer time for unexpected delays, as latecomers will not be accommodated.
Mandatory Documents for Exam Day
Carrying the correct documents is non-negotiable on the day of the examination. Candidates must bring both of the following items to the test center:
- A printed copy of the CTET admit card
- A valid government-issued photo identification (such as Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, or driving license)
Without either of these documents, entry into the examination hall will be strictly prohibited. Candidates should also carefully read all instructions printed on the admit card to avoid any last-minute confusion.
Prohibited Items at the Examination Center
To maintain the integrity and fairness of the examination process, CBSE has imposed a strict ban on carrying certain items into the test venue. Candidates must ensure that none of the following objects are brought to the center:
- Metallic objects of any kind
- Books, notes, or loose paper
- Geometry boxes and pencil cases
- Jewellery and ornaments
- Electronic gadgets, including mobile phones and smartwatches
- Analog or digital watches
- Earphones, Bluetooth devices, and headphones
- Calculators of any type
- Pen drives, cameras, or any recording devices
- Wallets and handbags
- Food and beverages (except medication if required)
Possession of any of these items, even inadvertently, may lead to immediate disqualification. Candidates are urged to leave all such belongings at home or in their vehicles before entering the center premises.
Discrepancies in Admit Card — Immediate Action Required
If any candidate notices an error in their e-admit card — whether in the name, photograph, signature, or any other personal detail — they should contact the CTET unit without delay. Early communication allows the board sufficient time to rectify the issue before the examination date. Ignoring such discrepancies could lead to complications at the center, including possible denial of entry.

CBSE has emphasized that adherence to all published guidelines is compulsory for every candidate. Reaching the center on time and following the prescribed rules are the most fundamental conditions for appearing in the examination.
