RBSE Announces Annual Exam Schedule for Classes 9 and 11

The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has officially released the examination timetable for the 2026 annual assessments. Students enrolled in Classes 9 and 11 across the state will sit for their exams from March 7 to March 19, 2026. The board has also confirmed that results will be declared on March 25, allowing students and schools to plan ahead with clarity.

Revised Academic Calendar to Ensure Timely Session Start

According to officials from the Directorate of Secondary Education, the examination schedule has been adjusted to ensure the upcoming academic session for 2026–2027 begins without any delays. The new session is set to commence on April 1, prompting the board to revise the exam timeline accordingly. This strategic move aims to maintain the academic calendar’s integrity and give students ample time to transition into the next phase of their studies.

Updated Timetable for Classes 5 and 8

In a related development, the Rajasthan Elementary Education Department has introduced partial revisions to the examination schedule for Classes 5 and 8. Under the updated plan, the mathematics exam for both grades will now be conducted on March 6. For Class 5 students, the mathematics paper is scheduled from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

The complete examination schedule is as follows:

  • Class 8 examinations: February 19 to March 4
  • Class 5 examinations: February 20 to March 6

Additionally, the department has announced that students with hearing and speech impairments will receive an extra 50 minutes of compensatory time during their examinations to ensure equal opportunities for all learners.

End of Automatic Promotion Policy

In a significant policy shift, the Rajasthan Board has abolished the automatic promotion system that previously applied to students in Classes 5 and 8. Under the new regulations, students must now secure the minimum passing marks to advance to the next grade. Those who fail to meet the required threshold will not be promoted automatically.

This decision has been made with the goal of strengthening academic performance and reducing dropout rates in schools. Board officials noted that the earlier practice of promoting students without requiring them to pass examinations was leading to a lack of seriousness toward studies, which in turn created difficulties in higher classes.

Remedial Support and Re-Examination Opportunities

The revised guidelines also include provisions for students who do not achieve the minimum required marks. Such students will be given the opportunity to appear for a supplementary examination within 45 days of the results. Additionally, special remedial classes will be organized to help these students strengthen their understanding of core subjects and improve their performance.

Board representatives have expressed confidence that the new system will foster greater accountability among students, teachers, and parents alike. With better monitoring of academic progress, the board anticipates a noticeable improvement in the overall educational standards across the state.

Key Highlights of the New Examination Framework

  • Annual exams for Classes 9 and 11 run from March 7 to March 19, 2026
  • Results for both classes to be published on March 25, 2026
  • New academic session for 2026–2027 begins April 1
  • Mathematics exam for Classes 5 and 8 rescheduled to March 6
  • Automatic promotion discontinued for Classes 5 and 8
  • Supplementary exams available within 45 days for unsuccessful students
  • Extra 50 minutes provided to students with hearing and speech impairments

These changes represent a comprehensive effort by the education board to raise academic benchmarks and ensure that students are genuinely prepared for the challenges of higher education. By combining timely examinations with robust support mechanisms, the board aims to create a more disciplined and effective learning environment throughout Rajasthan’s schools.
