DSSSB Releases Updated Guidelines for 2026 Recruitment Examinations

The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has issued a comprehensive set of instructions for candidates appearing in the various online examinations scheduled for 2026. These newly released guidelines cover essential aspects such as reporting time, dress code, negative marking, prohibited items, and admit card protocols. Candidates are advised to familiarize themselves thoroughly with these regulations, as any violation could lead to strict disciplinary action.

Reporting Time and Admit Card Regulations

According to the official notice, entry into the examination centre will only be permitted upon presentation of the e-Admit Card along with a valid original photo identification document. The e-Admit Card will contain complete details regarding the examination duration and the designated reporting time. Candidates must note that no entry will be allowed after the specified reporting window has closed.

During the examination, candidates will be required to sign the photo attendance sheet and provide a thumb impression before submitting it to the invigilator. Failure to complete this procedure will be the sole responsibility of the candidate. Additionally, candidates are strictly prohibited from leaving the examination hall before the conclusion of the test.

  • Reporting time will be clearly mentioned on the e-Admit Card
  • Entry after the designated time is strictly prohibited
  • Both e-Admit Card and original photo ID are mandatory for entry
  • Signature and thumb impression on the attendance sheet are compulsory
  • Leaving the centre before exam completion is not permitted

Examination Pattern and Negative Marking Details

The computer-based test will feature a negative marking scheme wherein 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. The question paper will be available in both Hindi and English, except for the language section, which will be presented solely in the respective language being tested.

The board has also clarified an important point regarding the e-Admit Card – its issuance or the mere act of appearing for the examination does not guarantee selection for a position. All candidates remain subject to thorough verification of their eligibility criteria and supporting documents at a later stage.

Complete List of Prohibited Items

Security arrangements at examination centres will be stringent, with all candidates undergoing metal detector screening. The following items are strictly banned from being carried into the examination premises:

  • Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, and microphones
  • Calculators, pen drives, scanners, or electronic pens
  • Wristwatches, cameras, and any metallic objects
  • Wallets, bags, belts, and goggles
  • Jewellery including rings, chains, pendants, and similar accessories
  • Food items, beverages, or water bottles

Candidates should be aware that no facility will be available at the examination centres for storing personal belongings. It is strongly recommended that candidates avoid bringing any unnecessary items to the venue to prevent inconvenience.

Dress Code Requirements

The board has prescribed a specific dress code that all candidates must adhere to on the day of the examination. Candidates are required to wear light-coloured, half-sleeved clothing without large buttons or badges. Footwear guidelines suggest that both male and female candidates should wear sandals or low-heeled slippers, as shoes are not permitted inside the examination hall.

Special Provisions and Legal Considerations

Candidates with disabilities will have their examinations conducted in accordance with the guidelines issued by the examination ministry. Additionally, individuals who wear religious articles such as the “Kada” or “Kripan” due to faith-based requirements must arrive at the examination centre at least one hour before the scheduled reporting time. This early arrival is necessary to complete the additional security checks mandated by the High Court’s orders.

Official Warning and Disciplinary Measures

The board has issued a stern warning that if any candidate is found in possession of a prohibited item, it will be treated as use of unfair means, and appropriate action will be initiated as per the established rules. Furthermore, the board retains the authority to cancel a candidate’s candidature at any stage of the recruitment process if deemed necessary.

Candidates are strongly urged to download their e-Admit Card from the official website well in advance of the examination date. All instructions mentioned on the admit card and in the official notification should be read carefully. Arriving at the examination centre ahead of time is highly recommended to avoid any last-minute complications or delays.
