CBSE Board Exams 2026: Key Guidelines for Students and Parents

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to commence its Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations today, Tuesday, February 17, 2026. With over 46 lakh students expected to appear across 26 countries, the board has finalized all arrangements and issued important instructions to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations.

Reporting Time and Entry Deadline

According to the official schedule, examinations will begin at 10:30 AM. However, students must note that entry into examination centers will close strictly at 10:00 AM. The board has made it clear that no candidate will be permitted to enter the examination hall after this deadline under any circumstances.

Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the examination controller, has urged students to adhere to the timing strictly and avoid last-minute rush. He emphasized that punctuality is crucial to prevent unnecessary stress and confusion on the day of the examination.

Important Timings to Remember

  • Examination starts at 10:30 AM
  • Entry closes at 10:00 AM sharp
  • Students should aim to arrive well before the cutoff time

Traffic and Route Diversion Concerns

During the examination period, several national and international conferences along with high-level meetings are scheduled in various parts of the country. These events may lead to traffic restrictions, route diversions, and enhanced security measures in multiple cities, potentially causing delays for students traveling to their examination centers.

The board has advised students to account for these possible disruptions while planning their commute. Factors such as local traffic conditions, weather, and travel distance should be carefully considered when deciding what time to leave home.

Essential Tips for Students

To avoid any inconvenience on examination day, students are encouraged to take certain preparatory steps in advance. Familiarity with the route and location of the examination center can significantly reduce anxiety and the likelihood of getting lost or delayed.

Preparation Checklist

  • Visit the examination center location at least once before the exam day
  • Identify alternative routes in case of road closures or diversions
  • Plan the travel schedule keeping buffer time for unexpected delays
  • Ensure all necessary documents and admit cards are ready the night before

Guidance for Schools and Parents

Schools have been requested to provide proper guidance to students and their families regarding time management and travel planning. Parents are also being asked to play an active role in ensuring that their children leave home with sufficient time to reach the examination center comfortably.

The board has emphasized that students should plan their journey in such a way that they can reach the examination center by 10:00 AM (Indian Standard Time) under all circumstances, regardless of any unforeseen situations that might arise on the way.

Final Reminders

With the examinations now underway, students are advised to stay calm, remain focused, and follow all instructions provided by the board and their respective schools. Carrying the required documents, maintaining proper discipline at the examination center, and arriving on time are the key factors that will contribute to a smooth examination experience.

All the best to every student appearing for the CBSE board examinations this year.
