Odisha Board Exams Begin Under Tight Security

The Class 12 board examinations in Odisha commenced on Wednesday under a comprehensive security framework designed to ensure smooth and fair conduct across the state. With more than four lakh students appearing at various examination centres, authorities have implemented strict anti-cheating measures and enhanced surveillance protocols.

Large-Scale Participation Across Streams

According to officials, the examinations are being conducted at 1,364 centres throughout Odisha, with approximately 4.01 lakh candidates registered for the tests. The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) is overseeing the entire examination process.

The subject-wise breakdown of enrolled students is as follows:

  • Arts stream: 2.56 lakh students
  • Science stream: 1.14 lakh students
  • Commerce stream: 24,621 students
  • Vocational studies: 5,932 students

The examinations began with the science paper on the opening day, while arts and commerce examinations are scheduled to start from Friday. All tests will continue until 28 March, with each paper running from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Advanced Monitoring and Surveillance Measures

Prashant Kumar Parida, the examination controller for CHSE, confirmed that live streaming facilities have been activated at all examination centres. Additionally, 211 question paper distribution centres are being monitored using artificial intelligence technology to detect any irregularities.

Special flying squads have also been deployed to conduct surprise inspections at various centres. These teams are tasked with identifying any instances of malpractice or procedural violations during the examination period.

Chief Minister Extends Best Wishes to Students

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conveyed his good wishes to all students appearing for the examinations. In a message shared on social media, he encouraged candidates to approach the tests with confidence and composure.

He emphasised that examinations are a reflection of a student’s knowledge and dedication, and there is no need to harbour fear or anxiety. The Chief Minister advised students that performing under pressure is counterproductive, and approaching the examination with patience and a calm mindset will yield the best results.

The stringent security arrangements reflect the board’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process while ensuring that students can focus on performing to their full potential.
