Punjab’s Government Schools Record Stellar JEE Main 2026 Results

In a remarkable achievement, 305 students from Punjab’s government schools have cleared the JEE Main 2026 examination in their very first attempt. This marks a substantial 63% increase compared to the 187 successful candidates from the previous year, signaling a significant upward trend in the state’s public education system.

Education Minister Hails Historic Performance

Punjab’s Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, announced the results on Saturday, describing the outcome as a historic milestone for the state’s schooling framework. He noted that the impressive numbers reflect the effectiveness of ongoing educational reforms and the relentless dedication of teachers across the state.

Among the successful candidates, five students from Bains’ own constituency of Sri Anandpur Sahib also qualified for the competitive exam, adding a personal touch to the announcement.

Special Residential Camps for JEE Advanced Preparation

To ensure these talented students are well-prepared for the next stage, the state government will organize a three-week residential training camp. This initiative aims to provide expert guidance and a structured environment for focused preparation ahead of the JEE Advanced examination.

The minister attributed the success to the state’s ‘Punjab Sikhiya Kranti’ initiative, crediting the hard work of educators and the supportive framework created under this reform program. He emphasized that such large-scale success from government schools is unprecedented in the country.

Inspiring Stories of Determination

The results feature several inspiring personal journeys that underscore the transformative power of education:

  • Bhavishya (Amritsar): A Class 12 non-medical student from the School of Eminence, Bhavishya secured an impressive 98.182 percentile. His father runs a small mobile repair shop while his mother works as a tailor, yet limited resources did not deter his ambition.
  • Dilkush Jha (Bathinda): With a 95.091 percentile, Dilkush relied primarily on self-study to achieve his goal. His father works as a laborer, and the family’s annual income is approximately ₹1.2 lakh, making his accomplishment even more commendable.
  • Priyanka Sharma (Sangrur): A science student from the School of Eminence, Priyanka scored an impressive 96.44 percentile in JEE Main while simultaneously preparing for the NEET examination, demonstrating exceptional focus and time management skills.

A Proud Moment for Punjab’s Education System

The education minister congratulated all 305 successful students and their families, calling the day a proud moment for the state’s government school system. He reiterated that such achievements at this scale have not been witnessed in any other state, reinforcing Punjab’s growing reputation as a hub of academic excellence in the public schooling sector.

The results not only highlight individual brilliance but also signal a positive shift in the perception of government schools, proving that with the right support systems and dedicated educators, students from public institutions can compete at the highest levels of national examinations.
