AIBE 21 Exam: Key Guidelines and Document Requirements Announced by BCI

The Bar Council of India has officially confirmed that the All India Bar Examination (AIBE 21) will take place on June 7, 2026. With the exam date now set, candidates preparing to appear must familiarize themselves with the essential rules, required documents, and procedural details outlined by the organizing body. Adherence to these instructions is critical, as failure to comply could result in disqualification or denial of entry at the examination center.

Application Timeline and Key Dates

Aspiring candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can submit their applications online through the official BCI portals. The online registration window remains open until April 30, 2026. It is important to note that the deadline for remitting the application fee is set for May 1, 2026. Following this, a brief correction window will be available from May 1 to May 3, 2026, allowing applicants to rectify any discrepancies in their submitted forms. Admit cards for the examination are scheduled to be released on May 22, 2026.

Mandatory Documents for Exam Day

Every candidate must carry a printed copy of their admit card to the examination venue. Entry will be strictly prohibited without this document. Additionally, candidates are required to present a valid, government-issued photo identification, such as an Aadhaar card, voter ID, passport, or driver’s license. It is strongly advised to verify the exact location of the examination center a day prior to the test to avoid any last-minute confusion or delays.

Critical Reporting Time and Entry Rules

Candidates must arrive at the examination center no later than 11:30 AM on the day of the test. Strict entry enforcement will be in place, and no candidate will be permitted to enter the examination hall after 1:15 PM. Planning your travel accordingly is essential to ensure you reach the venue with ample time to spare for security checks and seating.

Prohibited Items and Conduct Inside the Exam Hall

The examination authorities have implemented a strict policy regarding personal belongings. The following items are explicitly banned from the examination premises:

  • Mobile phones and any other communication devices
  • Smartwatches and fitness trackers
  • Calculators (digital or analog)
  • Bags, wallets, and purses
  • Books, notes, papers, or any study material
  • Any form of electronic gadget

Candidates found in possession of these items, or those caught engaging in any form of malpractice or unfair means, will be immediately disqualified from the examination. Furthermore, leaving the examination hall before the conclusion of the test and the submission of the answer sheet is strictly forbidden.

Answer Sheet Instructions

All responses on the OMR sheet must be marked using a blue or black ballpoint pen only. Using a pencil or any other writing instrument will lead to the cancellation of the examination. Candidates must carefully fill in their roll number, set code, and all other required personal information on the OMR sheet. Any errors or omissions in this process could render the answer sheet invalid.

Special Provisions for Candidates with Disabilities

Candidates with a certified disability of more than 40 percent will be granted compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour. To avail of this facility, candidates must present their valid and authenticated disability certificate to the invigilator at the examination center.

For candidates who are unable to write due to a physical limitation, such as visual impairment or the loss of both hands, the option to bring a scribe is available. The scribe must be a graduate and cannot be a student of law or arts. The scribe must carry a valid identification document. It is important to note that the examination center will not provide a scribe; candidates must arrange for their own. In cases of other disabilities, the scribe facility will only be granted upon the submission of a valid medical certificate issued by a government hospital.

Final Advisory for Candidates

It is crucial to understand that permission to sit for the exam is provisional. If a candidate is found ineligible upon further verification, their candidature will be summarily cancelled. Any instance of malpractice or adoption of unfair means will result in immediate expulsion from the examination. Candidates are urged to thoroughly review all official instructions and adhere to them diligently to ensure a smooth and fair examination process. For detailed information, candidates should refer to the official notification released by the Bar Council of India.
