Uttar Pradesh CM Invites Singapore-Based School Group to Expand into Lucknow

In a significant move aimed at strengthening the educational landscape of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has formally invited the Singapore-headquartered Global Indian International School (GIIS) group to establish its acclaimed education model in Lucknow. The invitation was extended during the Chief Minister’s ongoing visit to Singapore, where he emphasized the state’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and skill-based learning.

A Vision for World-Class Education in Uttar Pradesh

During his interaction with the school group’s leadership, Adityanath lauded GIIS for its forward-thinking approach, describing it as an institution rooted in innovation, holistic development, and vocational training. He encouraged the group to replicate its globally recognized framework in Lucknow, highlighting the city’s growing potential as an emerging hub for quality education in northern India.

The Chief Minister’s remarks were part of a broader dialogue with the Indian diaspora in Singapore, where he underscored Uttar Pradesh’s evolving infrastructure, governance reforms, and investor-friendly policies. His appeal to GIIS reflects a larger strategy to attract international educational players to the state, aligning with ongoing efforts to modernize its academic ecosystem.

Group’s Leadership Responds Positively

Atul Temurnikar, Chairman and Co-Founder of the Global Schools Group, which operates GIIS and other institutions across 64 campuses worldwide—including major Asian capitals and the United Kingdom—expressed enthusiasm about the proposal. Speaking to reporters, Temurnikar noted that the invitation aligns closely with the group’s mission to deliver student-centric education that prioritizes individual growth and future-ready skills.

“We are deeply honored by the Chief Minister’s invitation and will certainly take constructive steps in this direction,” Temurnikar said. “GIIS has always been an innovative institution where the student remains the focal point. Our objective is to provide every child with the finest education possible, and the rapidly progressing state of Uttar Pradesh could very well be our next destination.”

Engaging the Indian Diaspora

The invitation came during a special gathering hosted by the group at its One World International School campus on Monday evening, where Adityanath met with around 1,500 members of the Indian community residing in Singapore. The event served as a platform for meaningful discussions on investment opportunities and developmental initiatives underway in Uttar Pradesh.

Temurnikar described the interaction as highly productive, noting that the growing interest among the diaspora reflects confidence in India’s economic trajectory. He pointed to the state’s focused efforts on infrastructure, industry, and governance as key drivers of its transformation. “The future of Uttar Pradesh under the Chief Minister’s leadership is exceptionally promising,” he added. “The state is clearly emerging as a vital partner in India’s long-term growth story, and this presents significant opportunities for global collaboration.”

Strengthening Educational Ties Between Regions

The proposal marks a notable step in cross-border educational collaboration, with potential benefits extending beyond institutional expansion. If realized, the GIIS model in Lucknow would bring international teaching methodologies, advanced curricula, and a strong emphasis on skill development to students in the region. It also signals Uttar Pradesh’s intent to position itself as a competitive destination for educational investment.

The group’s presence in multiple countries gives it a unique perspective on global best practices in schooling, which could prove valuable in shaping the next generation of learners in the state. With both sides expressing mutual interest, the coming months may see further dialogue and planning toward making this initiative a reality.
