The student, a native of Salem in Tamil Nadu, is currently receiving medical care at a private hospital in Coimbatore. According to officials from the Kasaba police station, the attack occurred late Monday night while the student was walking on campus. She was struck from behind, sustaining injuries to her forehead.
Upon discovering her in a wounded state, fellow students and IIT staff quickly rushed her to a government hospital in the district. Given the nature of her injuries, she was subsequently transferred to a private healthcare facility in Coimbatore for more advanced treatment.

An investigating officer explained, “At this stage, we do not see any indication of external individuals entering the campus. The premises span over 600 acres, and only those familiar with the internal layout would be able to navigate the area effectively.”
