Rajasthan Board Unveils Fresh Academic Calendar for the Upcoming Session

The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, has officially released the new academic calendar for all affiliated schools across the state. This schedule outlines the key dates for classroom instruction and the much-anticipated summer break, providing clarity for students, teachers, and parents alike.

Class Schedule and Summer Vacation Dates

According to the official notification, regular classes for the new academic session will commence on April 1st. Students will attend school as per the standard timetable until May 15th. Following this period of study, the board has scheduled the summer vacation to begin on May 16th, extending through June 20th. This designated holiday period is intended to offer students a respite from the intense summer heat.

School operations are slated to resume on June 21st, marking the start of the second phase of the academic session. From this date onward, all educational activities will proceed on a regular basis as per the established curriculum. The education department has issued clear directives for all schools to strictly adhere to this published calendar to ensure uniformity and consistency across the state.

Key Dates at a Glance

  • Session Start: Classes begin on April 1st.
  • Instruction Period: Regular teaching continues until May 15th.
  • Summer Break: Schools remain closed from May 16th to June 20th.
  • Session Resumes: All schools reopen on June 21st.

Major Policy Shift: End of Automatic Promotion

In a significant move to bolster the quality of education, the Rajasthan Board has also announced the discontinuation of the automatic promotion system for students in Classes 5 and 8. Under the revised regulations, students will now be required to secure the minimum passing marks in their year-end examinations to be eligible for promotion to the next grade. This marks a departure from the previous policy where students were advanced automatically without a formal assessment.

This decision has been implemented to address concerns regarding the academic foundation of students. The board has observed that the lack of a formal examination requirement was leading to a casual approach towards studies, which in turn created challenges for students as they progressed to higher classes where the curriculum becomes more demanding. By making the evaluation process mandatory, the board aims to foster a more serious attitude towards learning and ensure that students have a stronger grasp of fundamental concepts before moving forward. The new assessment framework is expected to encourage both students and teachers to focus more diligently on the learning process and overall academic achievement.
