Delhi CM Shri School Admissions 2026-27: Key Dates and Application Details

The admission process for Delhi’s CM Shri schools and government schools for the academic session 2026-27 is now underway. This year, the application procedure has been divided into two distinct tracks: offline submissions for the early primary grades and an online portal for the higher classes. Families seeking admission for their children from Nursery through Class 11 should familiarize themselves with the specific requirements, timelines, and documentation needed to ensure a smooth application experience.

Admission Process for Nursery, KG, and Class 1

For the foundational classes of Nursery, KG, and Class 1, the application forms can be collected and submitted directly at the respective schools. The application window for these grades runs from March 2, 2026, to March 16, 2026. Schools will accept forms during two specific time slots each day: from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the morning and again from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the afternoon.

Important Dates for Early Grades

  • Application start date: March 2, 2026
  • Application deadline: March 16, 2026
  • Display of applicant lists: March 18, 2026
  • Draw of lots (if required): March 20, 2026
  • Release of selection list: March 23, 2026
  • Admission process completion: April 2, 2026

Online Application for Classes 6, 9, and 11

Students seeking entry into Classes 6, 9, and 11 must complete their applications through the official education department portal. The online registration for these higher classes will remain open until March 12, 2026. Notably, a reservation of 50% of the seats is designated for students who have passed Classes 5, 8, and 10 from government schools. When filling out the online form, parents should carefully consider their school preferences, as changes to the order of choices will not be permitted after the seat allocation has been made.

Age Eligibility Criteria

Age calculations for admission eligibility are based on the date of March 31, 2026. The specific age requirements for each class are as follows:

  • Nursery: 3 to 4 years
  • KG: 4 to 5 years
  • Class 1: 5 to 6 years

It is crucial to note that even a single day’s deviation from the prescribed age limit can lead to the automatic rejection of the application. Parents are strongly advised to verify their child’s age against these parameters before submitting any documentation.

Distance and Residency Guidelines

Preference in the admission process will be given to students residing within a 1 to 3-kilometer radius of the school they are applying to. For families living beyond this distance, a sworn affidavit confirming safe and reliable transportation arrangements for the child is mandatory. Furthermore, proof of Delhi residency is a fundamental requirement for all applicants. The address provided on the application form must match exactly with the one documented on the supporting proof, such as a ration card, voter ID, Aadhaar card, or electricity bill.

Essential Documents Checklist

To avoid any last-minute complications, it is advisable to prepare all necessary documents well in advance. The required documentation includes:

  • Proof of age, such as a birth certificate
  • Proof of Delhi residency, including a ration card, voter ID, Aadhaar, or utility bill
  • Three to five recent passport-sized photographs
  • Caste or disability certificates, if applicable
  • Mark sheets and Transfer Certificate (TC) from the previous school for admissions to Classes 6, 9, and 11
  • Immunization records, which must be submitted within six months of taking admission

Five Critical Points to Consider When Applying

1. Ensure Accurate Age Calculation

One of the most common reasons for application rejection is an error in age calculation. The age is determined as of March 31, 2026. Double-check that your child’s age falls precisely within the required range for the class you are applying for. An application with an age that is even one day outside the specified limits will be deemed invalid and rejected.

2. Verify Your Residency Proof

Since Delhi residency is a mandatory condition, submitting incorrect or incomplete proof can be problematic. A common mistake is providing documents with an out-of-state address or submitting an incomplete rental agreement. It is essential to ensure that the address on your application form is an exact match to the one on your supporting documents, such as the ration card or Aadhaar card. Any discrepancy can lead to disqualification.

3. Choose School Codes and Preferences Wisely

For the online application process, the order in which you list your preferred schools is final. Once a seat is allocated, there is no provision for changing your preference or requesting a transfer. Consider the distance rule of 1 to 3 kilometers from your residence and think strategically about your choices before submitting the form.

4. Upload Clear and Complete Documents

Whether you are applying offline or online, the quality and completeness of your documents are under scrutiny. For online submissions, uploading blurry photographs or incomplete scanned copies of documents like birth or caste certificates can result in the form being marked as defective. Ensure all photocopies are legible and all original documents are ready for verification.

5. Do Not Wait for the Last Day

The deadlines are March 16 for the offline Nursery, KG, and Class 1 applications, and March 12 for the online applications for Classes 6, 9, and 11. Waiting until the final days is a significant risk, as websites often experience heavy traffic and schools can become overcrowded, leading to technical glitches or long queues. Submitting your application well ahead of the deadline is always the most prudent course of action.
