CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2026: Subject-Wise Paper Analysis

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has successfully concluded the Class 10 board examinations for all major subjects as of March 7, 2026. Students appeared for papers in Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and Computer Applications across the exam window. Overall feedback from students and educators indicates that the question papers were largely balanced and rooted in the NCERT curriculum. Most learners described the difficulty level as ranging from easy to moderate, though certain sections in specific subjects did present notable challenges.

Hindi Paper Maintains a Balanced Structure

The Hindi examination took place on March 2 and featured a well-structured question paper. Students reported that while the majority of questions were directly drawn from the prescribed syllabus, a handful of items required deeper reflection. The writing and interpretation sections demanded a bit more cognitive effort, but this did not significantly hinder progress. On the whole, the paper was perceived as easy to moderate, allowing most students to complete it comfortably within the allotted time.

English Paper: Unseen Passages Prove Tricky

English was among the earlier papers, held on February 21. The most common point of difficulty cited by students was the unseen passage section, which carried significant weightage of ten marks. Many test-takers found these passages confusing and more challenging than expected. While the remaining sections—grammar, literature, and writing tasks—were considered manageable, the comprehension component left several students feeling uncertain about their performance. Teachers echoed these concerns, noting that the passages were slightly above the usual difficulty curve for CBSE papers.

Mathematics: A Subject of Divided Opinions

The board exams kicked off on February 17 with Mathematics, and this paper sparked considerable discussion among students and parents alike, including on social media platforms. A large segment of students described the paper as fair and firmly grounded in NCERT material, which made it accessible to those who had studied consistently. However, questions related to trigonometry and circle geometry proved to be stumbling blocks for others. Reactions outside exam centres were mixed, with some students walking out confident and others visibly stressed. Subject teachers assessed the overall difficulty as moderate, expressing optimism that well-prepared students would secure strong scores.

Science: Moderate Difficulty with a Few Numerical Hurdles

Scheduled for February 25, the Science paper was widely regarded as moderate to easy in difficulty. The question paper incorporated all three core branches—physics, chemistry, and biology—along with a healthy mix of multiple-choice and case-based questions. Physics numericals emerged as the primary source of trouble, causing some students to pause and rethink their approach. Notably, no questions fell outside the prescribed syllabus, and a majority of students finished the paper ahead of schedule. Educators rated the paper as balanced, with predictable question patterns that minimised surprises for well-prepared candidates.

Social Science: Simple, Balanced, and Time-Friendly

The final major paper, Social Science (Hindi medium), was conducted on March 7. Student feedback indicated that the paper was largely easy to moderate, with most questions sourced directly from NCERT textbooks. The overall structure was described as straightforward and well within the curriculum guidelines. Most questions were simple, and the paper was not excessively lengthy, meaning students did not face time pressure. A few learners mentioned that certain history-related questions required extra thought, but this did not overshadow the generally positive reception of the paper.

Computer Applications and IT: A Fair Opportunity for Good Scores

On February 27, examinations were held for Computer Applications, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. The Computer Applications paper was rated as moderate to easy in terms of overall difficulty. Subjective questions were direct, predictable, and straightforward to solve. This paper provided students with a favourable opportunity to earn high marks, as the questions closely mirrored typical NCERT-based patterns and previous years’ formats.

In summary, the CBSE Class 10 board examinations for 2026 maintained a consistent standard across subjects. The papers were predominantly NCERT-driven, balanced in structure, and fair in difficulty. While certain sections—such as English unseen passages and select Mathematics problems—posed challenges, the overall sentiment among students and teachers remains positive. Candidates who prepared thoroughly and practised regularly are expected to perform well when results are announced.
