CBSE Defers Class 12 Board Exams Across West Asia Until March 16
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a postponement of Class 12 board examinations scheduled in several West Asian countries. This decision comes in response to prevailing regional conditions and the well-being of students facing uncertainty in the region.
Initially slated to take place on March 12, 2026, these examinations have now been deferred until March 16, 2026. The board’s move reflects a careful assessment of the ground realities and aims to alleviate the stress and anxiety experienced by students preparing for their board exams.
Affected Countries and Exam Schedule
The postponement applies to CBSE-affiliated schools across seven countries in the West Asia region, including:
- Bahrain
- Iran
- Kuwait
- Oman
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- United Arab Emirates
All examinations that were originally scheduled for March 12 have been suspended. The board has indicated that fresh dates for these papers will be announced in due course, allowing students adequate time to prepare.
Review Meeting Scheduled for March 14
According to the official notice issued by CBSE, a comprehensive review of the situation will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Following this assessment, the board will finalize and announce the revised schedule for examinations slated to begin from March 16 onward.
Students have been strongly advised to regularly monitor the CBSE official website for the latest updates and announcements. Staying connected with their respective schools is equally important, as institutions will relay important communications from the board promptly.
Exam Format and Timings
All CBSE board examinations will continue to be conducted in the traditional pen-and-paper format. The examination session at all designated centers will commence at 10:30 AM local time. Students are expected to arrive at their exam centers well in advance and carry all necessary materials as per the standard examination guidelines.
The official circular concerning this postponement was issued by Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the Examination Controller at CBSE. The board has urged students, parents, and schools to remain patient and cooperative during this period of adjustment.
