NEET MDS 2026 Application Window Now Open

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially opened the registration portal for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS 2026). Aspiring candidates can now submit their applications through the official board website until March 30, 2026, at 11:55 PM.

Complete Schedule for NEET MDS 2026

The examination timeline has been clearly outlined for applicants. The correction window will be available on April 21, allowing candidates to make necessary modifications to their submitted forms until April 22. Admit cards are scheduled for release on April 29, while the computer-based test will take place on May 2. Results are expected to be announced on June 2.

The examination will be conducted in a single shift from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, spanning a total duration of three hours. This streamlined format ensures uniformity across all test centers nationwide.

Required Documents for Application

Candidates preparing to submit their applications must have the following documents ready in scanned format:

  • Recent passport-sized photograph
  • Specimen signature
  • Left thumb impression
  • BDS passing certificate or provisional degree
  • Internship completion certificate (to be obtained by July 31, 2026)
  • Dental registration certificate
  • Valid government-issued photo identification

Eligibility Requirements for NEET MDS 2026

Applicants must have completed their Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a college recognized by the Dental Council of India. Additionally, candidates need to hold either provisional or permanent registration certificates from the DCI or any state dental council.

A crucial eligibility factor involves the mandatory 12-month rotating internship, which must be completed on or before May 31, 2026. This requirement ensures that all applicants have gained adequate practical exposure before pursuing postgraduate studies.

Indian citizenship is mandatory for all applicants. However, Non-Resident Indians, Overseas Citizens of India, and Persons of Indian Origin are also eligible to apply for the examination.

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The question paper for NEET MDS 2026 is divided into two distinct sections with a total of 240 questions. Part A comprises 100 questions to be answered in 75 minutes, while Part B contains 140 questions with a time allocation of 105 minutes.

An important aspect of the examination format is that candidates cannot navigate to the next section until the allocated time for the current section has elapsed. Once the time for Part A concludes, candidates will not be able to revisit or modify their responses in that section.

Scoring System

The marking scheme awards four marks for every correct answer, while one mark is deducted for each incorrect response. Questions left unanswered will not incur any negative marking, allowing candidates to strategize their attempt approach accordingly.

Application Fee Structure

The application fee varies based on category. Candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay ₹3,500, while those from SC, ST, and PwD categories have a reduced fee of ₹2,500.

With the application deadline approaching, eligible candidates are encouraged to complete their registration process well before the cutoff date to avoid any last-minute technical difficulties. The official website remains the sole authorized platform for application submission and future updates regarding the examination.
