Bihar Board Class 12 Results Announced: Overall Pass Percentage Stands at 85.19%

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) officially declared the Class 12 (Intermediate) results on Monday, March 23, 2026. Students who appeared for the annual examinations can now access their scores and grade sheets through official channels. This year’s results continue a trend of strong performances, with female candidates once again outpacing their male counterparts across multiple streams.

Girls Continue to Outperform Boys

According to the official data released by the board, the overall pass percentage for the Intermediate examinations has been recorded at 85.19%. Breaking down the numbers, 86.23% of female candidates successfully cleared the exams, compared to 84.09% of male candidates. This marks yet another year where female students have demonstrated superior academic achievement at the state board level.

Stream-Wise Performance Breakdown

The Commerce stream emerged as the top performer among the three main faculties, achieving an impressive pass rate of 93.07%. A total of 27,721 students registered for Commerce examinations, comprising 18,509 boys and 9,212 girls. Of these, 25,800 candidates successfully passed, with 15,687 securing first division, 8,568 achieving second division, and 1,545 passing with third division marks.

The Science stream followed closely behind, recording an 87.46% pass percentage. With 6,14,710 students appearing for examinations—including 3,67,798 boys and 2,46,912 girls—a total of 5,37,609 candidates emerged successful. The division-wise distribution shows 3,04,307 students in first division, 2,27,694 in second division, and 5,608 in third division.

While specific figures for the Arts stream were not detailed in the initial release, the overall results indicate consistent performance across all faculties, with the top ranks being claimed by students from each stream.

State Toppers Shine Across All Streams

This year’s toppers have set impressive benchmarks in their respective faculties. In the Science stream, Aditya Prakash Aman secured the top position statewide with 481 marks out of 500, translating to an outstanding 96.20% score. The Arts stream saw Nishu Kumari claim the first rank with 479 marks (95.80%), while Aditi Kumari topped the Commerce stream with 480 marks (96.00%).

The board has released the list of candidates who secured positions within the top five ranks across all three streams. A total of 26 students have been recognized in this category, with Science contributing 6 toppers, Arts producing 13, and Commerce adding 7. Notably, 19 of these top-ranked students are female, while 7 are male, further underscoring the academic dominance of girls in this year’s examinations.

Comparison with Previous Years

This year’s pass percentage of 85.19% represents a marginal decline of approximately 1.37% compared to the previous year’s figure of 86.56%. Looking at the broader trend over the past seven years, the board’s results have shown consistent performance:

  • 2026: 85.19%
  • 2025: 86.50%
  • 2024: 87.21%
  • 2023: 83.73%
  • 2022: 80.15%
  • 2021: 78.04%
  • 2020: 80.59%
  • 2019: 79.76%

Despite the slight dip from last year, the overall trajectory demonstrates the board’s continued efforts to maintain high academic standards while improving evaluation efficiency.

Record-Speed Result Declaration

One of the most notable achievements this year has been the speed at which results were compiled and released. The board successfully declared outcomes for more than 13 lakh students within just 25 days of the examination period concluding. This marks the eighth consecutive year that BSEB has managed to announce results in such a remarkably short timeframe.

The Intermediate examinations concluded on February 13, 2026, with answer sheet evaluation commencing on February 27. During this intensive period, examiners evaluated over 69 lakh answer booklets and OMR sheets. The ability to process and declare results for such a massive number of candidates within this compressed timeline is being hailed as a significant administrative achievement.

Technological Advancements in Examination Process

The board has increasingly integrated modern technology into its examination framework to enhance accuracy and efficiency. This year, several key improvements were implemented:

Pre-printed answer copies were introduced, featuring student photographs along with barcode and lithocode identification systems. This measure helps prevent malpractices and ensures the integrity of the evaluation process. Additionally, the board developed new computerized formats, allowing marks from barcoded answer sheets to be directly uploaded to central servers from evaluation centers.

To further streamline the process, ten distinct question paper sets were prepared for each subject, reducing the likelihood of leakage and ensuring fair assessment across different examination sessions. For female candidates, 152 dedicated model examination centers were established throughout the state, ensuring secure and comfortable testing environments.

Distribution of Original Marksheets

Students who have successfully cleared their examinations should note that original marksheets and passing certificates will be dispatched to their respective schools or colleges within one to two weeks of the result announcement. Candidates are advised to visit their institutions to collect these documents, which will be handed over after verification and endorsement by the school principal or college authorities.

The timely release of results and the continued improvement in examination management reflect the board’s commitment to maintaining transparency and efficiency in the state’s educational system. With the results now public, students can proceed with their plans for higher education, professional courses, or other career pathways, armed with their well-earned qualifications.
