Bihar Board Class 10 Results 2026: Boys Outperform Girls by Nearly Two Percent

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has officially announced the results for the Matriculation (Class 10) annual examinations conducted in 2026. With an overall pass percentage of 81.79%, this year’s outcome highlights a notable shift in performance trends, as male students have outperformed their female counterparts by a margin of roughly two percentage points.

Close to 1.5 million students who appeared for the board exams can now access their scores and grade sheets. After months of anticipation and hard work, the wait has finally come to an end for candidates across the state.

Boys Lead in Pass Percentage Despite Fewer Total Passes

A total of 15,10,928 students registered for and appeared in the 2026 Matriculation exams. This number comprised 7,26,057 boys and 7,84,871 girls. Out of this large candidate pool, 12,35,743 students successfully cleared the examination.

Interestingly, while the absolute number of successful female candidates is higher, the percentage calculation tells a different story. Here is the breakdown:

  • Boys: 6,01,390 passed, representing an 82.82% success rate
  • Girls: 6,34,353 passed, representing an 80.82% success rate
  • Overall: 12,35,743 passed, with a combined pass percentage of 81.79%

This data clearly shows that although more girls cleared the exam in sheer numbers, boys achieved a higher success rate when measured proportionally.

Grade-Wise Performance Breakdown

When examining the results by grade categories, the distribution of successful candidates is fairly spread out. A total of 4,43,723 students secured First Division marks, while 4,75,511 students earned Second Division. Additionally, 3,03,103 candidates passed with Third Division.

Toppers List Shows Mixed Representation

The merit list released by the board features 139 students in total. Of these, 82 are boys and 57 are girls. However, the top two ranks are held exclusively by female candidates, with three students sharing these prestigious positions.

Looking at the top five ranks, the list expands to 13 students, comprising 6 boys and 7 girls. This year, Pushpanjali Kumari and Sabrine Parveen have jointly secured the top position, each scoring an impressive 492 marks out of 500, which translates to 98.4%.

Examination Details and Year-on-Year Comparison

The Matriculation exams were conducted across 1,699 examination centers throughout Bihar, running from February 17 to February 25, 2026. The results were officially declared on March 29, 2026, bringing closure to the examination cycle.

Compared to the previous year, there has been a slight dip in overall performance. In 2025, the pass percentage stood at 82.11%, which means this year’s figure of 81.79% represents a minor decline of 0.32 percentage points. While this decrease is relatively small, it does indicate a marginal shift in overall student performance compared to the prior academic cycle.

Students who appeared for the examination are advised to check their individual results through official channels and download their mark sheets for future reference. Those who did not pass can look forward to the compartmental examination schedule, which the board typically announces in the weeks following the main result declaration.
