Delhi Schools Get Official Academic Calendar for 2026-27
The Directorate of Education (DoE) has officially released the annual academic calendar for the 2026-27 session, covering all government and government-aided schools across Delhi. The calendar outlines key dates for admissions, examinations, holidays, and co-curricular activities, with a notable highlight being the start of CUET registration from the first week of April.
According to the department, the calendar has been carefully structured to ensure smooth school operations while supporting the holistic development of students. Schools have been advised to follow the schedule diligently, and students are encouraged to submit their applications for competitive exams well before the deadlines.
Key Holiday Periods Announced
The academic year will commence on April 1, and the calendar specifies the following holiday breaks:
- Summer break: May 11 to June 30
- Autumn break: October 17 to October 19
- Winter break: January 1 to January 15, 2027
Examination Schedule for the Session
Mid-term examinations for students in classes 3 through 12 are scheduled to take place between September 15 and October 13. Meanwhile, annual examinations for classes 3 to 9 and class 11 will be conducted from February 15 to March 23, 2027. Results are expected to be announced by the end of March.
Admission Timeline and Process
Admissions under the non-plan category for classes 6 to 9 will be carried out in three online phases between April and July. The first phase begins on April 1 and concludes on April 7. For class 11, admissions will start only after the declaration of class 10 board results.
A common entrance test for admissions to classes 10 and 12 under the non-plan category has been scheduled for April 25, with results expected to be released on April 28.
Support for National Competitive Examinations
The academic calendar also includes important registration deadlines for several national-level competitive examinations. These include the JEE, NEET, CA, and CLAT, all of which are scheduled to take place in July. Additionally, scholarship examinations such as the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship and the Chief Minister Science Talent Exam, slated for August, have been incorporated into the schedule.
This structured approach is aimed at helping students prepare effectively for these crucial exams without missing critical deadlines.
Free Coaching Initiative for Aspiring Students
In a significant move to support students from government schools, the Delhi government had earlier approved the Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya Vidya Shakti Mission in December 2025. The initiative is designed to provide structured academic assistance to students preparing for national-level entrance tests such as CUET, JEE, NEET, CA, and CLAT.
The programme specifically targets students who may not have the financial means to afford private coaching. Under this mission, eligible students receive free coaching, study materials, mock tests, and mentorship to help them prepare for the CUET examination.
CUET serves as a common gateway for admission to undergraduate programmes across participating central universities. Once students appear for the exam, they can apply to various institutions based on their scores. The mission also extends guidance through the application and counselling phases, ensuring that students receive end-to-end support throughout the admission process.
With the release of this comprehensive calendar, students and schools now have a clear roadmap for the upcoming academic year. The inclusion of competitive exam schedules and the continued focus on accessible coaching reflect the department’s commitment to academic excellence and equal opportunity for all learners.
