DTU and NCB Join Forces to Transform Cement and Concrete Research

Delhi Technological University (DTU) has entered into a strategic partnership with the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB) to accelerate research, innovation, and skill development in cement and concrete technology. This collaboration is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world industrial applications, creating new opportunities for students, researchers, and industry professionals alike.

A Step Toward Stronger Industry-Academia Collaboration

The agreement marks a significant move to strengthen the exchange of technical expertise between the academic and industrial sectors. By combining DTU’s academic strength with NCB’s domain knowledge, the partnership aims to promote the adoption of cutting-edge practices, modern construction techniques, and advanced training programs. The initiative is expected to play a key role in shaping the future of construction technology in India.

Officials believe that this collaboration will not only enhance research output but also help in developing a skilled workforce ready to meet the evolving demands of the construction industry. Through joint workshops, training sessions, and research projects, both institutions intend to foster an environment of continuous learning and innovation.

Building a More Durable and Sustainable Infrastructure

One of the primary goals of this partnership is to contribute to the development of stronger, more resilient, and sustainable infrastructure across the country. By leveraging new materials and advanced testing methods, the collaboration seeks to improve the quality and longevity of construction projects. This aligns with broader national efforts to modernize infrastructure while keeping sustainability at the core.

The memorandum was signed by NCB’s Director General, L.P. Singh, in the presence of DTU Vice Chancellor Prateek Sharma, Registrar Binod Dole, and other senior officials from both institutions. Their collective presence underlined the importance of the initiative and the commitment of both organizations to drive meaningful change in the construction sector.

DTU’s Broader Push for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

This latest collaboration is part of a wider series of efforts by DTU to foster innovation and support emerging ventures. Earlier in January, the university signed an agreement with IEEMA to boost cooperation in the electrical and electronics sectors. These initiatives reflect DTU’s proactive approach to building strong industry linkages that benefit students and faculty alike.

In March 2026, the university also received a funding commitment of ₹4 crore from alumnus Rajesh K. Soin. This investment has enabled the launch of a new startup called Biome Sustainability Ventures, which focuses on reducing environmental harm caused by agricultural waste and construction activities. The startup reflects DTU’s growing emphasis on sustainability-driven entrepreneurship and its commitment to addressing pressing environmental challenges through innovation.

Through these combined efforts, DTU is positioning itself as a hub for forward-thinking research, practical training, and entrepreneurial growth. The partnership with NCB is yet another step in that direction, promising to bring lasting benefits to the construction industry and the academic community alike.
