The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) has officially released the results for both Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. The announcement was made by the state’s Education Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, marking another year of academic assessment for thousands of students across the state. This year’s outcomes reveal a continuing trend of female students outperforming their male counterparts in both examinations.
Toppers Lead the Way in Class 10 and Class 12
In the high school examinations, Akshat Goyal, a student from MP Inter College in Ramnagar, secured the top position in the state merit list with an impressive 491 marks out of 500. For the intermediate level, Geetka Pant and Sushila Mehandiratta jointly claimed the first rank, each achieving 490 marks. Their accomplishments set a high standard for academic excellence in the state this year.
Class 10 Results: A Closer Look at the Numbers
The overall pass percentage for the Class 10 examinations stood at 82.10 percent. This figure represents a collective effort from students across both institutional and private categories. Breaking down the performance by gender reveals a significant gap, with girls achieving a pass rate of 96.07 percent while boys recorded 88.03 percent.
The category-wise distribution of successful candidates in Class 10 shows that 7,935 students, or 7.28 percent, passed with distinction. Additionally, 30,734 students (28.20 percent) secured first division, 46,708 students (42.86 percent) achieved second division, and 14,986 students (13.75 percent) passed with third division marks. The district of Bageshwar emerged as the top-performing district with an impressive pass percentage of 96.98 percent.
Class 12 Results: Girls Maintain Their Edge
The intermediate examinations recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.11 percent. Female students once again demonstrated superior performance with an 88.09 percent pass rate, compared to 81.93 percent for male students. This gender gap of approximately 6.16 percentage points in Class 10 and 8.05 percentage points in Class 12 highlights a consistent pattern of female academic achievement.
For the Class 12 category-wise breakdown, 7,814 candidates (7.77 percent) passed with distinction. First division was secured by 41,507 students (41.32 percent), while 34,987 students (34.82 percent) achieved second division. A smaller number, 330 students (0.32 percent), passed with third division marks.
Five-Year Performance Comparison for Class 12
Examining the historical data provides context for this year’s achievements. The total number of candidates appearing for the intermediate examinations has fluctuated over the past five years, with 2026 seeing 100,452 students, of whom 85,499 successfully passed. This represents a steady improvement from the 82.63 percent pass rate recorded in both 2022 and 2024, and the 80.98 percent in 2023. The 2025 results showed 83.23 percent, making 2026 the strongest year in this period.
Gender-Based Analysis Over Five Years
Female students have consistently outperformed their male peers in the intermediate examinations. In 2026, girls achieved an 88.08 percent pass rate compared to 81.92 percent for boys. This pattern has remained consistent throughout the five-year period, with girls maintaining a pass percentage above 83 percent every year, while boys have fluctuated between 78.48 percent and 81.92 percent.
The institutional category for girls in 2026 showed 50,636 candidates appearing, with 44,917 passing at an 88.70 percent rate. Private candidates among girls also performed well, with 64.73 percent passing. For boys, 46,475 institutional candidates appeared, with 38,528 passing at 82.90 percent, while private male candidates achieved a 59.28 percent pass rate.

The high school results also showed notable gender differences. The overall figures included 7,935 students passing with distinction, representing 7.28 percent of successful candidates. The first division category included 30,734 students, while second division accounted for 46,708 students and third division for 14,986 students.
