CBSE Clarifies Class 12 Results Timeline and Addresses Evaluation Concerns

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially confirmed that Class 12 results will not be announced on April 30, dismissing earlier speculation about an imminent release. According to the latest information from the board, students can expect their results sometime in May, with the third week of the month emerging as the most likely timeframe.

In an official statement, the board also addressed growing concerns and media reports regarding alleged irregularities in the answer sheet evaluation process. CBSE has categorically denied these claims, asserting that its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system is functioning exactly as intended and that the entire evaluation workflow is progressing on schedule without any technical disruptions.

Board Rejects Claims of Evaluation Delays

Sanyam Bhardwaj, the board’s examination controller, responded directly to recent media coverage that suggested problems with the assessment process. He emphasized that such reports are completely detached from reality and that the evaluation is actually proceeding more smoothly than in previous years. Bhardwaj expressed pride in the implementation of the new digital assessment framework, noting that it represents a significant step forward for the board.

The examination controller highlighted that the OSM system has been designed to enhance both accuracy and transparency in the marking process. He reassured students, parents, and educators that there are no bottlenecks or obstacles hampering the current evaluation cycle, and all activities are moving forward within the established timeline.

Positive Feedback from Teachers

Addressing the response from educators involved in the evaluation work, Bhardwaj shared that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Many teachers engaged in the marking process have expressed satisfaction with the new technology, with several voluntarily sharing their encouraging experiences through messages and photographs. Interestingly, some educators who were not initially assigned evaluation duties have also shown interest in participating, reflecting growing confidence in the system.

When asked about the overall progress of the assessment work, Bhardwaj reiterated that everything is advancing according to the predetermined schedule, with no delays reported at any stage of the process.

Key Points at a Glance

  • CBSE has completely dismissed reports of any malfunction or irregularities in the Class 12 answer sheet evaluation.
  • The On-Screen Marking (OSM) system is operating efficiently and without any technical issues, according to the examination controller.
  • The evaluation process is proceeding strictly as per the planned timeline, with no reported setbacks.
  • Teachers involved in the marking process have provided positive feedback, expressing satisfaction with the OSM system’s performance.
  • Class 12 results are expected to be released in the third week of May 2026.

Expected Release Date for Class 12 Results

Reiterating the board’s position on result announcements, the examination controller confirmed that results will be published during the third week of May, consistent with the originally planned schedule. He urged students and their families to remain patient and rely only on official communications from the board, cautioning against paying attention to unverified rumors circulating on social media and other platforms.

It is worth noting that CBSE introduced the On-Screen Marking system for Class 12 answer sheet evaluation beginning with the 2026 board examinations. This initiative is part of the board’s broader efforts to modernize and streamline its assessment procedures, making them more transparent, precise, and efficient for all stakeholders involved.

The 2026 CBSE board examinations commenced on February 17, marking the beginning of another annual examination cycle. The board conducts these examinations across a vast network of centers, catering to students in India as well as approximately 26 other countries worldwide. In total, close to 4.6 million students participate in these examinations each year, making the efficient and reliable evaluation of answer sheets a task of considerable scale and importance.

Given the enormous volume of answer sheets that need to be processed, the adoption of the OSM system is widely regarded as a crucial reform. By digitizing and automating key aspects of the marking process, the system aims to reduce human error, minimize delays, and ensure greater consistency in scoring. Education experts believe that this technological upgrade will not only benefit the current examination cycle but also lay the groundwork for even more organized and dependable evaluation processes in the years to come.

For now, students awaiting their Class 12 results are advised to keep monitoring official CBSE channels for the latest updates. The board has assured all candidates that the results will be declared within the announced timeframe, and any further information will be communicated through proper official channels.
