NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: City Selection Window Now Open Until May 21

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the window for candidates to select their preferred examination city for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. This follows the recent announcement of the re-test date by the Education Minister. Candidates who are scheduled to appear for the re-examination can now log in to the official portal and choose their desired test city. The window will remain accessible until 11:50 PM on May 21, 2026.

According to the official notice released by the agency, this facility has been extended specifically for those candidates who will be appearing in the re-examination scheduled for June 21. It is important to note that candidates who choose not to exercise this option will have their previously selected examination city remain valid for the upcoming test.

Exam Schedule and Format Details

The NEET UG re-examination is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The test will be conducted across multiple examination centers both within India and abroad. As per the official notification, the examination will commence at 2:00 PM and conclude at 5:15 PM, which includes the time required for pre-examination formalities and procedures.

Similar to the original examination, the re-test will be conducted in offline mode, requiring candidates to mark their answers on a physical OMR sheet using a pen. This pen-and-paper format ensures consistency with the standard NEET UG examination pattern that candidates are already familiar with.

Languages Offered for the Re-Examination

The re-examination will be conducted in multiple languages to accommodate candidates from diverse linguistic backgrounds across the country. A total of 13 languages will be available for the test, ensuring that candidates can attempt the examination in their preferred medium of instruction. The languages include Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

All guidelines and regulations pertaining to the examination will remain consistent with those outlined in the previously released information bulletin. Candidates are advised to refer to the original bulletin for detailed instructions regarding examination day protocols and procedures.

No Additional Fees Required

One of the key highlights of this window is that candidates will not be required to pay any additional fees for updating their examination city preference or modifying their current address details. The agency has explicitly stated that this facility is being provided free of cost to all eligible candidates appearing for the re-examination.

However, it is crucial to understand that this window does not permit any other modifications to the application form. Candidates will only be allowed to update their present address and select their first and second preference for the examination city. No other corrections or changes to the application details will be entertained under any circumstances.

Important Dates and Process Overview

For the convenience of candidates, the complete schedule and process details have been outlined below:

  • Window Opening Date: May 15, 2026
  • Window Closing Date: May 21, 2026 (until 11:50 PM)
  • Permitted Updates: Current address information and first/second preference for examination city
  • Applicable Fees: No charges will be levied for making these updates
  • Restrictions: No other modifications to the application form will be allowed

Admit Card and City Intimation Schedule

The NTA has confirmed that the examination city intimation slips and admit cards will be released at a later date. Candidates will be able to download these documents from the official website once they are made available. The agency has advised all candidates to regularly monitor the official portal for updates regarding the release of these important documents.

It is recommended that candidates keep their login credentials handy and ensure that all personal information is accurate before the window closes. Any discrepancies or issues should be addressed promptly to avoid complications during the examination process.

Examination Day Guidelines

Candidates appearing for the re-examination must note that the test will be conducted strictly as per the schedule mentioned in the admit card. The examination center will be clearly indicated on the admit card, and candidates must report to their assigned center well before the reporting time to complete all necessary formalities.

It is essential for candidates to carry their admit card along with a valid photo identification document to the examination center. Failure to produce these documents may result in disqualification from the examination.

Support and Assistance

For any queries or assistance related to the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, candidates can reach out to the NTA helpdesk. The support team is available to address concerns regarding the city selection process, technical issues with the portal, or any other examination-related matters. Candidates experiencing difficulties during the window period are encouraged to seek help promptly to ensure their preferences are successfully updated before the deadline.

Candidates are strongly advised to complete the city selection process well before the closing date to avoid any last-minute technical glitches or server issues that may arise due to high traffic on the website during the final hours.
