The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official schedule for students who wish to have their Class 12 answer sheets re-evaluated. Candidates who are not satisfied with their performance in the board exams can now apply to view their scanned answer books and request a recheck. Two-Stage Process for Students Seeking Reassessment
The CBSE has structured the entire re-evaluation procedure into two clear phases. In the first phase, students are required to submit an online application to obtain a scanned copy of their answer sheet. Once they have reviewed the copy and identified any potential errors, they can move to the second phase, which involves verification of those errors and a formal request for re-evaluation of their answers.
Stage One: Applying for Scanned Answer Sheets
The initial window for requesting scanned copies of answer books will remain open from May 19, 2026, to May 22, 2026, up until 11:59 PM. During this period, students can log on to the official CBSE portal and apply for the subject(s) they wish to review. A processing fee of ₹700 per subject will be applicable for obtaining the scanned copy.
Stage Two: Error Verification and Revaluation
After receiving and reviewing the scanned copies, students who believe there are legitimate errors in the marking can proceed to the second phase. This window will be active from May 26, 2026, to May 29, 2026. During this time, students can apply for two distinct services:
- Verification of marks: Students can request a formal check to confirm whether the total marks have been added correctly. The fee for this is ₹500 per answer sheet.
- Re-evaluation of answers: If a student feels a particular answer has been incorrectly marked, they can request a re-evaluation. The fee for this is ₹100 per question (including one sub-question).

Before applying, students must be aware of the specific terms and conditions set by the board. The CBSE has laid out clear guidelines to ensure the process runs smoothly and fairly.
- Only those students who have already applied for and received the scanned copy of their answer sheet in the first phase are eligible to apply for re-evaluation.

Understanding the Outcome of Re-evaluation

Even a change of a single mark is possible and will be reflected in the final outcome. The decision made by the CBSE after the re-evaluation process will be considered final, and no further appeal against it will be entertained.
Additionally, while students can obtain a scanned copy of their answer sheet under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the RTI route cannot be used to demand a re-evaluation of the answers.
Online Application and Payment Guidelines
The entire application process, from start to finish, is to be conducted online. Offline or physical applications will be rejected outright by the board. All fee payments must be made electronically through debit cards, credit cards, or net banking. Cash payments or any other mode of transaction will not be accepted. It is also important to fill out the application form accurately; any form found to be incomplete or not adhering to the rules will be cancelled without notice.

- Ensure that you complete the application in a single session, as you cannot add subjects later.
- It is recommended that students complete the application process themselves rather than using a cyber cafe or a third party to avoid any data entry errors.
The scanned copy of the answer sheet will be made available on the student’s login dashboard. The documents will be released on a “first come, first served” basis, meaning that students who apply earlier will receive their copies sooner.
