Streamlined Admissions Ahead: API Setu to Automate NTA Score Verification for UG and PG Courses
Students applying for undergraduate and postgraduate programs across Indian universities can look forward to a significantly smoother admission experience starting with the 2026-27 academic session. The government is integrating the country’s university admission framework with the DigiLocker-API Setu platform, a move designed to eliminate long waiting periods and procedural bottlenecks.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has already taken the first step by connecting 200 universities to this system, aligning with the release of the CUET PG 2026 results. Furthermore, plans are underway to extend this integration to the CUET UG 2026 results, which are expected in June. This technological upgrade promises to redefine how student data is shared and verified.
How the New System Works
In the past, applicants were required to manually enter their personal details and NTA scores on the portals of each individual university. This repetitive process was not only time-consuming but also prone to errors from incorrect data entry. A senior official from the Ministry of Education highlighted that the new system will put an end to this hassle.
Under the revamped process, when a student visits the admission portal of their chosen university, their essential information will be populated automatically. Details such as the candidate’s name, father’s name, date of birth, category, gender, and CUET scores will appear on the screen without any manual input, drawing directly from the verified DigiLocker records via API Setu.
Which Institutions Are Benefiting?
This digital overhaul is set to benefit a wide array of institutions and their prospective students. The initiative will streamline the application process at numerous prominent universities, making it easier for candidates to apply to multiple institutions without the stress of redundant paperwork.
The list of institutions that will see immediate advantages includes:
- University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)
- Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Jamia Millia Islamia
- Allahabad University and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University
- Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow
- Gautam Buddha University, Noida and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya University, Gorakhpur
- University of Rajasthan and University of Jammu
- Central universities located in Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh
