CBSE OSM Dispute Takes New Turn as Student Claims Physics Answer Sheet Is Not His

The controversy surrounding the CBSE Class 12 post-result process has intensified with a fresh allegation that raises serious questions about the board’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. After numerous complaints about portal crashes, failed payments, and illegible scanned copies, a student now claims that the physics answer sheet uploaded against his roll number does not belong to him at all.

Student Alleges Mismatched Answer Sheet

A student identified as Vedant, posting on the social media platform X under the handle @VEDANTSHRIV17, has shared multiple posts alleging that the physics answer booklet made available during the photocopy access process bears no resemblance to his own work. According to his claims, the handwriting, the manner of presenting answers, and the overall style of response are completely different from what he submitted during the examination.

Vedant stated that both his family members and teachers immediately noticed the discrepancy upon reviewing the uploaded physics copy. He pointed out that his English and Computer Science answer booklets appear consistent with his own handwriting and presentation, but the physics copy looks entirely alien to him.

In his social media posts, he emphasized that the handwriting style, letter formation, spacing between words, sentence construction, and the overall approach to answering questions are all markedly different from his own. The student expressed bewilderment at how such a mix-up could occur within the board’s digital evaluation framework.

Impact on Academic Percentage

Vedant has further alleged that this mix-up has directly affected his overall scores and eligibility. He claims that his marks were awarded based on another student’s responses, which prevented his PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) aggregate from reaching the 75 percent threshold. He has raised pointed questions about the whereabouts of his actual answer sheet and whether his original responses were ever evaluated at all.

In one of his posts, he wrote that he received 50 percent marks for answers written by someone else, and questioned why his genuine answer sheet and legitimate marks were missing, resulting in his failure to achieve the required 75 percent in the PCM aggregate.

Concerns Over OSM System Transparency

The student has linked this incident directly to the broader credibility of CBSE’s digital evaluation mechanism. He argued that if answer booklets are being incorrectly tagged or mismatched within the system, students cannot be expected to place their trust in the process. He has demanded that the board conduct a thorough examination of the original physical answer sheets, carry out an audit of the scanning and tagging procedures, and initiate a proper investigation into the matter.

Vedant also mentioned that a media organization had informed him that CBSE would take necessary action regarding his complaint. However, as of now, the board has not issued any official statement addressing this specific allegation.

Series of Complaints Since Results Declaration

This latest incident adds to a growing list of grievances from students across the country since the CBSE Class 12 results were announced. Several students have reported technical issues including website crashes, payment failures despite deductions from their accounts, incomplete application submissions, and poor-quality scanned copies that were difficult to read. Many have also raised concerns about potential errors in the evaluation process itself.

The emergence of this new case has further fueled discussions on social media about the reliability and transparency of the OSM system. Education experts and stakeholders are now calling for greater accountability and more robust quality checks within the digital assessment framework.

Observers note that the OSM system was introduced to streamline the evaluation process and reduce manual errors, but incidents like this highlight potential vulnerabilities in the technology-driven approach. The mismatch of an answer sheet raises fundamental questions about how scanned documents are linked to student records and whether adequate verification protocols exist at each stage of the process.

For students awaiting resolution of their concerns, the lack of a swift and transparent response from the board adds to their anxiety. Many are watching closely to see how CBSE addresses this particular case, as it could set a precedent for handling similar complaints in the future.

The board’s silence on the matter so far has done little to assuage concerns. Parents and students alike are demanding clearer communication and faster resolution mechanisms for such grievances, especially when academic futures hang in the balance.

As the debate continues to gain momentum online, the pressure is mounting on CBSE to demonstrate that its digital evaluation systems are robust enough to prevent such errors and transparent enough to restore confidence among students and their families.
