DU Opens BTech Admissions for 2026: Key Dates and Eligibility Criteria

Delhi University has officially launched the online registration process for its Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme for the upcoming academic session. Aspiring candidates who wish to secure a seat in this coveted engineering course can now submit their applications through the university’s official admission portal. The deadline for submitting the application form has been set for 15 June 2026, giving students a limited window to complete their registration.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

To be considered for admission into the BTech programme at Delhi University, applicants must meet a set of specific academic requirements. These criteria are designed to ensure that only qualified and capable students are admitted into the programme.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must have successfully completed their Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised educational board. Additionally, they are required to have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects, achieving a combined minimum score across these three subjects. It is also mandatory for applicants to have passed the English subject in their qualifying examination.

Minimum Percentage Requirements by Category

The university has established different minimum score thresholds depending on the applicant’s category. These are as follows:

  • General (UR) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates must secure at least 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) applicants need a minimum of 55% in the relevant subjects.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates are required to have at least 50% marks.

JEE Main Requirement and Other Conditions

All applicants must appear for the JEE (Main) 2026 Paper-I examination. This is a compulsory requirement for admission consideration. Furthermore, students who are placed in the compartment category in their Class 12 examinations in 2026 will not be eligible for admission during this academic session.

Application Fee Structure

The application fee varies based on the candidate’s category. Students belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay a fee of ₹1,500. Meanwhile, applicants from the SC, ST, and PwBD categories have a lower fee of ₹1,200. All payments must be made exclusively through online payment methods.

Understanding the Admission Fee Regulations

Beyond the application fee, candidates should be aware of the financial commitments associated with securing admission. The total programme fee has been set at ₹2,35,200 for the academic year 2026-27, though the university reserves the right to revise this amount.

After the seat allocation process, selected candidates must pay an admission confirmation fee of ₹1,00,000. This payment is crucial, as admission is only confirmed once this amount is successfully processed. Failure to pay within the stipulated timeframe will result in the cancellation of the allocated seat, and the candidate will be excluded from any subsequent admission rounds.

Additionally, the remaining balance of the programme fee must be deposited within ten days after the conclusion of all admission rounds. If this deadline is missed, the candidate’s admission will be revoked.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Prospective students can follow a straightforward process to complete their application. Here is a detailed breakdown of the steps involved:

  • Begin by visiting the official engineering admissions website of Delhi University.
  • On the homepage, select either the “New Registration” option for first-time applicants or the “Existing User” option for those who have already started the process.
  • If you have previously registered, log in using your JEE application number and password.
  • Carefully fill out the application form, ensuring that all personal and academic information is accurate and up to date.
  • Proceed to make the online payment of the applicable application fee.
  • Upload all necessary supporting documents as specified in the instructions.
  • After reviewing all the details, submit the completed form.
  • Finally, download a copy of the submitted application and retain a printed version for future reference.

With the registration window now open, eligible candidates are encouraged to complete their applications well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute technical difficulties.
