CBSE Files Police Complaint After Cyber Attacks on Post-Result Portal
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has lodged a formal complaint with the Delhi Police following a series of cyber attacks targeting its post-result services portal. According to the board, multiple coordinated attempts were made to breach the system over the past few days, but all were successfully thwarted without any data compromise or security lapse.
In an official statement released on June 5, 2026, CBSE confirmed that the complaint has been handed over to the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Delhi Police. The board has called for a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action against those responsible. The Delhi Police has already registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 66 and 43(f) of the Information Technology Act and has commenced its inquiry.
Portal Launched on June 2
The portal was introduced shortly after the announcement of Class 12 board examination results. It allows students to access essential services such as answer sheet verification, re-evaluation requests, and other result-related facilities. Since its launch, the portal has become a critical tool for thousands of students seeking timely resolution of academic concerns.
CBSE revealed that the portal came under sustained attack within days of going live. Over a span of three days, the platform received an unusually high volume of suspicious and malicious internet traffic originating from multiple locations across the country. These attempts appeared designed to overwhelm the system and disrupt normal operations.
Intent Behind the Attacks
According to the board, the attackers aimed to interfere with the portal’s functionality, block legitimate users from accessing services, and make unauthorized attempts to extract sensitive information. The scale and coordination of these efforts suggest a well-organized cyber operation rather than isolated incidents, CBSE noted.
The board emphasized that the nature and magnitude of the attacks point toward deliberate planning, warranting serious investigation to uncover the individuals or groups behind them.
Data Remains Fully Secure
Despite the repeated intrusion attempts, CBSE has assured students and parents that all systems and databases remain completely safe. No student records have been accessed, and no confidential information has been leaked or exposed. The board credited its robust cybersecurity infrastructure for successfully blocking every unauthorized access attempt.
Officials reiterated that the portal’s security framework is designed to withstand such threats, and all protective measures functioned as intended throughout the ordeal.
Round-the-Clock Monitoring Prevents Breach
CBSE attributed the successful defense to continuous 24×7 surveillance by cybersecurity experts and a rapid response mechanism that enabled quick containment of threats. During the incident, several prominent institutions and government agencies extended technical assistance to help mitigate the attacks. These included:

- Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)

- Other central government agencies
The collaborative effort played a key role in neutralizing the threats before they could cause any damage to the portal or its underlying systems.

CBSE has confirmed that a detailed investigation is now in progress to trace the origin of the attacks, understand the motives, and identify the perpetrators. The IFSO unit of the Delhi Police is leading the probe and will pursue all necessary legal proceedings against those found responsible.
The board has reassured students and their families that the portal is functioning normally and that all post-result services will continue without interruption. Students can proceed with their applications for verification, re-evaluation, and other processes as scheduled, with no expected delays due to the incident.
