CBSE Clarifies ‘Roll Number Not Found’ Error During Class 12 Re-Evaluation

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official clarification regarding the ‘Roll Number Not Found’ error that many Class 12 students encountered while accessing the post-result services portal. The issue, which sparked confusion among students and parents, has now been explained by the board in a detailed statement.

Understanding the ‘Roll Number Not Found’ Message

According to the board’s announcement made on Monday, the ‘Roll Number Not Found’ message is not the result of any technical malfunction. CBSE has clarified that this notification appears exclusively for candidates who did not apply for the first stage of post-result services, which involves obtaining scanned copies of their answer sheets.

The board further explained that eligibility for re-evaluation and verification of discrepancies in answer sheets was limited to students who had submitted applications during the initial phase to access their scanned answer scripts. Consequently, those who skipped this first step were unable to proceed with subsequent services and may have encountered the ‘Roll Number Not Found’ notification on the portal.

Application Window: June 2 to June 7, 2026

The application process for Class 12 verification and re-evaluation remained open from June 2 to June 7, 2026. Throughout this period, the portal functioned smoothly without any reported technical interruptions.

CBSE stated that the entire procedure was conducted under the supervision of government technical agencies and expert teams from IIT institutions. Cybersecurity specialists also maintained continuous monitoring of the portal during the application window to prevent potential cyber threats or malicious activities.

Impressive Response from Students

The data released by CBSE reveals that more than 1.6 lakh students successfully submitted applications for re-evaluation under the post-result services. These applications collectively requested re-evaluation for over 3.8 lakh answer sheets, demonstrating the significant response from students across the country.

  • Students who applied for re-evaluation: Over 1.6 lakh
  • Answer sheets requested for re-evaluation: More than 3.8 lakh
  • Application period: June 2 to June 7, 2026

Support Systems and Assistance

Throughout the application process, CBSE maintained an active helpdesk and grievance redressal mechanism to assist students. Dedicated teams were deployed to address application-related concerns and answer queries from students and parents in a timely manner.

The board has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent, accessible, and student-centric post-result process. CBSE has urged students and their families to rely exclusively on official communications and to disregard any rumors or misleading information circulating on various platforms.

This clarification comes as a relief to many students who were uncertain about their eligibility status and the next steps in the re-evaluation process. The board’s transparent approach in addressing the technical confusion reflects its dedication to maintaining a smooth and fair evaluation system for all candidates.

Students who successfully applied during the designated window can now proceed with confidence, knowing that their re-evaluation requests are being processed as per the established guidelines. The board continues to encourage students to stay informed through official channels and to reach out to the helpdesk for any further assistance regarding their applications.
