Congress Chief Kharge Slams Centre Over NEET and Recruitment Exam Irregularities

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a sharp attack on the central government on Thursday over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and various recruitment tests. He stated that recurring paper leaks and controversies surrounding the education system have severely shaken the confidence of millions of young aspirants and their families across the country.

Speaking after chairing a meeting of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Kharge took to the social media platform X to express his concerns. He highlighted that the nation is currently grappling with critical challenges including rising inflation, unemployment, examination scandals, and widening social inequality.

Growing Anxiety Among Students

Kharge emphasized that the repeated instances of question paper leaks in NEET and other recruitment examinations have created a deep sense of uncertainty about the future of the youth. He pointed out that these incidents have not only disrupted the academic calendar but have also left countless students questioning the fairness of the entire evaluation process.

The Congress chief noted that party leader Rahul Gandhi has personally reached out to affected students and young candidates, listening to their grievances and amplifying their voices on a national platform. This direct engagement, according to Kharge, reflects the party’s commitment to standing with the youth during these troubling times.

Allegations of Deliberate Weakening of Educational Institutions

Taking direct aim at the central government, Kharge accused it of intentionally undermining educational institutions and systems that were built through decades of hard work and dedication. He asserted that the Congress party’s responsibility extends beyond mere political struggle, encompassing the protection of the Constitution, democratic values, and social justice.

Kharge stressed that maintaining transparency in the education system and preserving the trust of young people is of paramount importance. He observed that the continuous stream of examination-related controversies has raised numerous questions in the minds of students, making it difficult for them to focus on their preparation with confidence.

Key Party Meeting Addresses Education and Youth Concerns

To deliberate on these pressing issues, the Congress party convened a significant meeting on Thursday, bringing together its general secretaries, state in-charges, and Pradesh Congress Committee presidents. The gathering witnessed the participation of several senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, and K.C. Venugopal.

The discussions during the meeting covered a wide range of topics, including the current political landscape, challenges faced by the youth, the state of the education system, and examination-related matters. The party leadership engaged in detailed deliberations on how to address these concerns effectively and hold the government accountable for its actions.

Ongoing Criticism and Demand for Accountability

This is not the first time that the Congress party has raised objections regarding alleged discrepancies in NEET and other competitive examinations. The party has consistently pressed the central government for answers and demanded concrete measures to ensure the integrity of the examination process.

Leaders from both the Congress and the broader INDIA alliance have expressed serious concerns in recent times about examination management and the overall health of the education system. They have repeatedly called for robust safeguards to protect the interests of young candidates and restore faith in the country’s academic and recruitment frameworks.

The party has urged the government to conduct thorough investigations into all reported cases of paper leaks and take strict action against those found responsible. Additionally, Congress leaders have demanded the implementation of foolproof mechanisms to prevent such incidents in the future, ensuring that deserving candidates are not unfairly disadvantaged by systemic failures.

As the debate over examination integrity continues to intensify, the Congress party appears determined to keep this issue at the forefront of the national discourse, holding the government accountable for what it describes as a failure to protect the aspirations of India’s youth.
