Government Issues Stern Warning Ahead of NEET UG Re-Exam on June 21

With the NEET UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026, the central government has adopted an uncompromising stance against any attempts to compromise the integrity of the test. Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somnathan has issued a clear and firm warning that anyone found tampering with the fairness or security of the examination will face the full force of the law.

High-Level Review Meeting Highlights Zero-Tolerance Approach

During a high-level review meeting convened on Friday, Cabinet Secretary Somnathan underscored the government’s commitment to conducting the examination with complete transparency and impartiality. He made it unequivocally clear that any individual or group attempting to disrupt the process, leak question papers, or spread disorder would invite stringent punitive action under existing legal provisions.

The meeting, which included Abhishek Singh, Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), focused on assessing the preparedness across all levels. Emphasis was placed on enhancing coordination between central authorities, state governments, and district administrations to guarantee a seamless and secure examination experience for all candidates.

Coordinated Efforts Across Multiple Agencies

According to official statements, all concerned agencies are working in tandem to ensure the successful conduct of the re-examination. The Cabinet Secretary reiterated that surveillance and security protocols are being significantly strengthened at every stage to uphold the credibility of the entire examination process.

This is not the first time the government has reviewed the arrangements. Several preparatory meetings have already taken place over the past few weeks:

  • On June 1, the Cabinet Secretary held discussions with officials from various central ministries and allied agencies.
  • On June 4, a comprehensive review meeting was conducted with chief secretaries of all states.

The primary objective of these deliberations has been to evaluate readiness and ensure seamless inter-agency coordination ahead of the crucial examination date.

Special Security Measures for Question Paper Handling

Sources indicate that the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued specific directives regarding the secure transportation of question papers. Dedicated security arrangements have been put in place to safeguard the confidentiality of the examination material at all times.

  • The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been assigned responsibility for the overall security of question papers.
  • The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will provide support during transport and augment security operations.

The government’s clear objective is to eliminate any possibility of a breach in the secrecy and safety of the question papers, ensuring that no lapse occurs at any stage of the process.

Background: Why the Re-Examination is Being Held

The original NEET UG examination was conducted on May 3. However, allegations of question paper leakage surfaced shortly thereafter, prompting the National Testing Agency to cancel the examination on May 12. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the matter and has already made multiple arrests in connection with the case.

The decision to hold a re-examination reflects the government’s determination to restore confidence in the integrity of the admission process for medical and dental courses across the country.

Advice for Students

The government has appealed to students to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to rumors or unverified information circulating on social media and other platforms. Candidates are advised to rely exclusively on official notifications and announcements issued by the NTA and other authorized bodies.

Administrative authorities have assured all aspirants that comprehensive security measures are being implemented to ensure a fair and transparent examination. The goal is to provide every candidate with an equal and unbiased opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities without any external interference or malpractice.

As the examination date approaches, all stakeholders—from central ministries to local district officials—remain on high alert to ensure that the re-examination proceeds smoothly and without any untoward incidents. The government’s message is unambiguous: the sanctity of the examination process will be protected at all costs, and any attempt to undermine it will be dealt with severely.
