NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Sees Over 2 Million Participants

The National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on Sunday across numerous test centers in India and abroad. The exam was held at 5,440 locations within the country and 14 international venues. According to official figures, approximately 2 million candidates appeared for the test out of more than 2.279 million registered aspirants.

This year, the question paper was offered in 13 languages, including Hindi and English, ensuring accessibility for a diverse range of students. The examination authorities implemented comprehensive arrangements to prioritize both the comfort and security of all participants throughout the testing process.

Special Provisions for Candidates with Disabilities and Medical Conditions

In a significant move toward inclusive examination practices, the NTA arranged specialized support for over 10,000 candidates with disabilities (PwD). These students received tailored accommodations to ensure they could attempt the examination without any hindrance.

Additionally, approximately 81 candidates battling severe medical conditions were provided with individualized arrangements. Among these were a student who had recently survived a road accident and another undergoing active chemotherapy treatment. The agency emphasized that these special provisions were designed to protect the years of hard work invested by these determined candidates, ensuring they had a fair opportunity to showcase their abilities.

Key Support Measures for Special Candidates

  • Over 10,000 differently-abled students participated with complete necessary accommodations in place.
  • Around 81 candidates with critical health challenges received dedicated assistance.
  • Individualized planning ensured that no candidate was disadvantaged due to physical or medical limitations.

Robust Security Framework Implemented

To uphold the integrity and fairness of the examination, the NTA deployed a multi-layered security apparatus at every test center. Advanced technological measures and physical checks were combined to create a secure testing environment.

Biometric verification based on Aadhaar and facial authentication technology were used to confirm the identity of every candidate. Simultaneously, continuous CCTV surveillance and signal jammers were active at all venues to monitor activities and prevent any malpractices. The coordination with state police forces enabled a two-tier frisking procedure, adding an extra layer of scrutiny at the entry points.

Security Protocols at a Glance

  • Biometric and facial authentication systems verified candidate identities accurately.
  • CCTV cameras and jammers provided constant monitoring across all centers.
  • Two-stage security frisking was conducted with the support of state police personnel.

The comprehensive security measures were implemented with the clear objective of maintaining a transparent and secure examination process, reinforcing the credibility of one of the nation’s most competitive medical entrance tests.
