UPTET 2026: Key Instructions Every Candidate Must Follow Before Exam Day
The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 is scheduled to commence tomorrow, and candidates preparing to appear for the examination need to be fully aware of the essential guidelines. Proper preparation and adherence to the rules can help ensure a smooth experience at the examination center. With thousands of aspirants set to participate, understanding the critical details regarding reporting time, required documents, and prohibited items is crucial for avoiding any last-minute complications.
Strict Entry Timings at Examination Centers
Candidates must arrive at their designated examination centers well before the scheduled time. The entry gates at all centers will be sealed precisely 45 minutes prior to the start of each examination session. Any candidate arriving after the gates have been closed will not be permitted entry under any circumstances. It is therefore essential to plan your journey accordingly and factor in potential travel delays.
Complete Schedule and Examination Shifts
The UPTET 2026 examination will be conducted over three days, from July 2 to July 4, in multiple shifts. Paper 2 is scheduled for July 2 and July 3, while Paper 1 will take place on July 3 and July 4. All examinations will be held in offline mode. The morning shift runs from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and the afternoon shift operates from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
For the morning session, the entry gates will close at 8:45 AM sharp. For the afternoon session, candidates must be inside the center by 1:45 PM. After these designated times, no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall, regardless of the circumstances.
Examination Centers Across the State
This year, the examination will be conducted across 955 centers spread over 60 districts in the state. A total of 19,94,661 candidates have registered for the examination. Of these, 17,67,180 candidates are from within the state, while 2,27,481 candidates hail from other states.
Among the registered candidates, 1,85,791 are in-service teachers, and 18,08,870 are new applicants. The application breakdown shows that 3,88,179 candidates have applied for the primary level (Paper 1), 8,16,436 for the upper primary level (Paper 2), and 3,95,023 candidates have applied for both levels.
The districts with the highest number of examination centers and candidates include Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut, Mau, Moradabad, Agra, and Jaunpur.
Essential Documents for the Examination
Candidates must carry a printed copy of their 2026 admit card to the examination center. Along with the admit card, they need to bring a valid original photo identification document, a photocopy of the same ID, and three recent passport-sized photographs. Acceptable forms of identification include the Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID, driving license, or any other government-issued photo ID.
For candidates whose admit cards mention “e-KYC Required at Exam Center,” carrying the original Aadhaar card is mandatory for verification purposes. Failure to present the required documents may result in significant inconvenience at the examination center.
Important Guidelines for Exam Day
To ensure a hassle-free examination experience, candidates should follow these important instructions:
- Arrive at the examination center at least 60 minutes before the scheduled reporting time.
- Carry the printed copy of the admit card along with a valid photo ID and its photocopy.
- Bring passport-sized photographs as specified in the instructions.
- Use only blue or black ballpoint pens for the examination.
- Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, earphones, and all other electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited inside the examination center.
- Notes, books, papers, bags, and any other restricted materials cannot be taken into the examination hall.
- Wear simple and comfortable clothing, and avoid wearing heavy jewelry or ornaments.
- Remember that once the gates close, no candidate will be allowed entry, so plan to arrive with sufficient time to spare.
