Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

The admission process continues to operate on a district-wise basis this year. Candidates are only allowed to apply for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya located in their home district. In cases where a student attends school in a neighboring district, that school must be situated within a 10-kilometer radius of the candidate’s residence. The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti will verify the authenticity of such claims. Applications submitted for the wrong district are subject to cancellation, even if the candidate is selected in the merit list.
Examination Pattern and Structure
The selection test will be conducted in an OMR-based format, comprising a total of 80 multiple-choice questions. The examination carries a maximum score of 100 marks. The paper is designed to assess candidates across three main sections: Mental Ability, Arithmetic, and Language.
Marking Scheme and Qualifying Marks
Each correct answer will be awarded 1.25 marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect responses, which reduces the risk for candidates attempting all questions. However, it is mandatory to secure the minimum qualifying marks in each individual section:
- Mental Ability and Environmental Studies: 14 marks
- Arithmetic: 7 marks
- Language: 7 marks
During the examination, candidates must use only blue or black ballpoint pens to mark their answers on the OMR sheet. The use of pencils is strictly prohibited. Additionally, students must verify that the serial numbers on their question booklet and OMR sheet match. If any discrepancy is found, the invigilator must be informed immediately.
Reservation Policy and Seat Allocation
Reservation in Navodaya Vidyalayas is implemented in accordance with the regulations set by the central government. The policy ensures equitable access for students from various backgrounds and regions.
Rural and Urban Quota
A minimum of 75% of the seats in each district are reserved for students from rural areas. The remaining 25% of seats are open to candidates from both rural and urban backgrounds, with selection based on merit.
Category-Based Reservation
Reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) are provided as per central government norms. A 27% reservation applies to candidates falling under the central OBC list.
Additional Reservation Provisions
At least one-third (33%) of the total seats are reserved for female students. Candidates with disabilities are also entitled to reservation benefits as per the established guidelines and regulations.
