Apple Expands Retail Presence in India with Sixth Store in Mumbai’s Borivali
Apple is accelerating its retail expansion in India, with plans to open its sixth company-owned store in the country on February 26. The new outlet will be located in Mumbai’s Borivali neighborhood, marking the second Apple Store in the city. This move comes at a time when the tech giant is experiencing strong revenue growth and deepening its foothold in one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets.
Design Inspired by Indian Culture
The architecture of the upcoming store draws inspiration from the peacock, India’s national bird. According to Apple, the design reflects confidence, modernity, and creativity. A similar thematic approach has already been used in Apple Stores in Bengaluru’s Hebbal, Pune’s Koregaon Park, and Noida. The Borivali store continues this tradition of blending local cultural elements with Apple’s signature minimalist aesthetic.
Store Opening and Customer Experience
The store will open its doors to the public at 1:00 PM on February 26. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore and purchase Apple’s latest products, as well as receive direct guidance from company experts. Apple has emphasized that the store will be particularly beneficial for entrepreneurs and business professionals, offering product demonstrations and professional advice tailored to their needs.
Customers can also take advantage of special services, including assistance from specialists, creative professionals, and members of the Genius team. Additionally, complimentary “Today at Apple” sessions will be available, allowing attendees to learn how to make the most of their devices and develop new creative skills.
Record Growth in the Indian Market
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently highlighted India as a key emerging market during the company’s earnings call. Reports indicate that Apple achieved record revenue in India during the October to December quarter. Cook noted that the company saw strong double-digit growth in revenue from emerging markets like India, underscoring the region’s increasing importance to Apple’s global strategy.
Strong Performance in 2025
The year 2025 proved to be highly successful for Apple in India. iPhone sales grew by 24 percent year-over-year, while iPad sales saw a modest 2 percent increase. The iPhone 16 series emerged as the standout performer, accounting for 57 percent of total iPhone sales in the country. This made it the best-selling iPhone series of the year, reflecting strong consumer demand for Apple’s latest offerings.
