The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced a feature that allows users to view their CIBIL score and credit report directly within the app. This move aims to simplify financial planning alongside digital payments, giving users a clearer picture of their financial health without needing to switch between platforms.
NPCI Partners with TransUnion CIBIL
NPCI has announced that its unit, BHIM Services, has entered into a partnership with TransUnion CIBIL. Through this collaboration, users can now access their credit score and detailed credit report right inside the BHIM app. A key highlight is that no credit data will be accessed without the user’s explicit consent, ensuring that privacy remains fully protected.
Which Version Supports the New Feature?
The credit score checking feature is available in BHIM UPI app version 4.0.19 and higher. This update is part of a broader strategy to transform the app from a simple payment tool into a comprehensive financial management platform, enabling users to better understand and monitor their economic standing.
Biometric Authentication Already Rolled Out
Prior to this update, in March, NPCI BHIM Services Limited introduced biometric authentication within the app. This allows users to authorize UPI transactions of up to 5,000 rupees using fingerprint or face recognition. How to Check Your CIBIL Score in the BHIM App
Follow these steps to view your credit score directly through the BHIM app:
- Update the app: Ensure you are using BHIM version 4.0.19 or a later release.
- Log in: Open the BHIM app and sign in using your PIN.
- Locate the credit score section: Scroll down on the home screen and tap on the “Free CIBIL Score” or “CIBIL Score” option.
- Enter your details: Provide your PAN card number, first name, and last name exactly as they appear on your PAN card.
- Give consent: Accept the terms and conditions, then click on “Proceed.”
- View your score: Your CIBIL score and a detailed credit report will be displayed on the screen.
