CBSE Class 10 Results 2026: Kendriya Vidyalayas Surge Ahead of JNVs

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the results for the Class 10 board examinations for 2026. This year’s institution-wise performance has brought a notable shift at the top, with Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) claiming the leading position and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) settling for second place.

Kendriya Vidyalayas Take the Lead

Kendriya Vidyalayas have achieved an impressive pass percentage of 99.57% for the 2026 academic session, the highest among all school categories. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas followed closely with a pass rate of 99.42%. This puts the KVs ahead of their counterparts by a margin of 0.15 percentage points—a slim yet decisive advantage that flipped the rankings this year.

Performance Across Other School Categories

The institution-wise breakdown reveals how different types of schools fared in this year’s examinations:

  • Central Tibetan Schools: 97.42%
  • Private (Independent) Schools: 93.77%
  • Government Schools: 91.43%
  • Government-Aided Schools: 91.01%

These figures highlight a clear gap between the top-performing institutions and other school categories, underscoring the consistent academic strength of the central government-run school networks.

Year-on-Year Comparison: A Tight Race

When comparing the past two years, the competition between KVs and JNVs has been remarkably close. In 2025, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas held a slight edge with a pass percentage of 99.49%, while Kendriya Vidyalayas trailed marginally at 99.45%—a difference of just 0.04 percentage points.

Fast forward to 2026, and the tables have turned. Kendriya Vidyalayas not only overtook the JNVs but also widened the gap to 0.15 percentage points. This reversal demonstrates the shifting dynamics between these two prestigious school systems and reflects their ongoing commitment to academic excellence.

The results indicate that both institutions continue to maintain exceptionally high standards, with pass rates consistently hovering near the 99% mark. The narrow margins between them suggest that the top position could easily change hands again in the coming years, keeping the rivalry competitive and the standards elevated.

For students, parents, and educators, these results serve as a testament to the quality of education imparted in these institutions. The consistent performance across consecutive years reinforces their reputation as benchmarks for school education in the country.
