A CBSE Topper’s Journey: Discipline and Dedication Pay Off

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the Class 12 results for 2026, and this year’s outcomes have brought both celebration and reflection. Among the standout achievers is Anamika Chauhan, a student from Mainpuri, who has secured the top position in the Agra division with an impressive 99 percent score. Her remarkable accomplishment has sparked joy not only within her family but across the entire region, serving as an inspiration for countless students.

Behind the Score: A Routine Built on Focus

Anamika’s success did not happen overnight. It was the result of consistent effort and a well-structured study plan. She attributes her achievement to the strong foundation laid by her teachers and her disciplined approach to preparation. After school hours, she dedicated four to five hours daily to focused study, prioritizing self-learning and a deep understanding of NCERT textbooks.

One of the key strategies that set her apart was her habit of solving previous years’ question papers. This practice not only familiarized her with the exam pattern but also helped her manage time effectively during the actual test. Her ability to grasp concepts thoroughly, rather than relying on rote memorization, proved to be a decisive factor in her outstanding performance.

Aspiring to Serve the Nation

When asked about her future goals, Anamika expressed a clear vision. She aspires to become a judge, a profession that requires not only academic excellence but also integrity and a deep sense of justice. Her ambition reflects a mature understanding of her responsibilities as a student and a future leader. She believes that hard work, combined with the right guidance, is the cornerstone of any success story.

The congratulatory messages have been pouring in since the results were announced. Teachers, friends, and well-wishers have all praised her for bringing laurels to her district. Anamika, however, remains humble, emphasizing that her achievement is a collective effort involving her educators and family support.

Board Exam Trends: A Closer Look at the Numbers

While Anamika’s story is one of personal triumph, the overall results for the CBSE Class 12 exams in 2026 reveal a broader trend. This year, a total of 17,80,365 students registered for the examinations, of which 17,68,968 appeared. Among them, 15,07,109 students successfully passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 85.20 percent.

This figure marks a noticeable decline compared to the previous year. In 2025, the board had registered 17,04,367 candidates, with 16,92,794 appearing for the exams. Of those, 14,96,307 students cleared the examinations, achieving a pass rate of 88.39 percent. The year-on-year comparison shows a drop of 3.19 percentage points, prompting discussions among educators and policymakers about the factors influencing this shift.

Several variables could contribute to this change, including variations in paper difficulty, evaluation standards, or even the preparedness levels of students across different regions. While a dip in pass percentage might raise concerns, it also underscores the importance of adaptive learning methods and the need for students to engage with a diverse range of study materials beyond textbooks.

Anamika’s journey serves as a reminder that success is attainable with the right mindset and effort. Her story, along with the broader statistics, offers valuable insights into the current educational landscape and the evolving challenges faced by students today.
