CBSE Acknowledges Technical Glitch in Class 12 Post-Result Process, Announces Refund for Excess Fee Deductions
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official clarification regarding a technical issue that emerged during the post-result procedures for the Class 12 examinations of the 2021-22 session. According to a notice released on May 24, 2026, several students encountered discrepancies while applying for scanned copies of their answer sheets, leading to incorrect fee deductions.
In some instances, students were charged more than the prescribed amount, while in others, the system erroneously collected a lesser fee than required. The board has moved swiftly to address these irregularities and reassure affected candidates.
Refund Process for Overcharged Students
CBSE has confirmed that students who were charged excess fees will receive a full refund of the additional amount. The reimbursement will be processed through the same payment method originally used for the transaction, whether it was UPI, debit or credit card, or any other digital mode. This ensures a seamless and hassle-free reversal of funds for the affected candidates.
For those students who were undercharged due to the technical fault, the board will separately communicate the pending amount and provide instructions on how to complete the payment. Importantly, CBSE has assured that all impacted students will still receive their scanned answer booklets without needing to submit a fresh application, eliminating any additional stress during this period.
Board Warns Against Fake Circular
In a related development, CBSE has also issued a public alert cautioning students and parents about a fraudulent circular circulating on social media platforms. The fake notice falsely claims that the board has cancelled the process of obtaining photocopies of answer sheets and the revaluation procedure due to the recent technical problems.
The board has categorically dismissed this claim as baseless and misleading. In an official statement shared on its verified social media handles, CBSE urged stakeholders to remain vigilant and not fall prey to such rumours. The message emphasized that all authentic information is available exclusively on the official CBSE website, and any other source should be treated with suspicion.
Key Points for Students and Parents
- Excess fee amounts will be automatically refunded to the original payment method used during the application process.
- Students who paid less than the required fee will receive individual notifications with details on completing the balance payment.
- Scanned copies of answer books will be provided to all affected students without requiring any new application or additional steps.
- Any circular claiming the cancellation of answer book copies or revaluation is completely fake and should be ignored.
- Students are advised to rely solely on official CBSE communication channels for accurate and verified updates.
This proactive approach by CBSE reflects its commitment to transparency and student welfare. By promptly acknowledging the glitch and outlining clear remedial measures, the board aims to minimize inconvenience and ensure that the post-result process continues smoothly for all candidates. Students and parents are encouraged to monitor official CBSE announcements for further updates and to disregard any unofficial information circulating online.
