Young Cricket Star Misses CBSE Class 10 Exam
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the teenage sensation who played a pivotal role in India’s Under-19 World Cup triumph, was marked absent for his Class 10 CBSE board examination on Tuesday. The test was scheduled at Podar International School in Bihar, where officials recorded his non-appearance.
School principal N.K. Sinha confirmed that the institution followed standard board protocols in this situation. Speaking to reporters, Sinha explained that any student who fails to show up for an exam must be formally noted as absent, regardless of their profile or achievements.
“He did not arrive at the examination centre today. According to CBSE regulations, we had no choice but to record him as absent,” Sinha stated. “We genuinely expected him to appear, but he clearly has numerous other commitments—possibly a match or training session. I believe he will certainly sit for his next paper.”
A Stellar World Cup Campaign
The 14-year-old left-handed opener captured global attention during the Under-19 World Cup final against England, where his explosive innings earned him the Player of the Match award. Suryavanshi smashed an incredible 175 runs off just 80 deliveries, striking 15 fours and an equal number of sixes. His century came off a mere 55 balls, ranking among the fastest in the tournament’s history and powering India to their sixth World Cup title.
Beyond the final, Suryavanshi’s consistency throughout the competition was remarkable. He finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 439 runs across seven matches, maintaining an impressive average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.50. His aggressive batting saw him clear the boundary rope 30 times—more than any other player in the event.
Record-Breaking IPL Debut
Suryavanshi’s cricketing credentials extend well beyond the junior circuit. He holds the distinction of being the youngest player ever to feature in the Indian Premier League, having made his debut at just 14 years and 23 days old. During that same season, he announced himself on the senior stage by smashing a century in only 35 balls against Gujarat Giants—a knock that made him the youngest centurion in IPL history and saw him eclipse Yusuf Pathan’s record for the fastest hundred by an Indian in the competition.
With the 2026 IPL season on the horizon, Suryavanshi is now preparing to represent Rajasthan Royals. His explosive style and fearless approach are expected to make him one of the most closely watched performers in the upcoming campaign.
The missed examination raises questions about how the young cricketer will balance his academic obligations with an increasingly demanding professional schedule. While the board’s records will reflect his absence for this particular paper, the school principal’s comments suggest that Suryavanshi intends to complete his remaining examinations as scheduled.
For now, cricket enthusiasts and education officials alike will be watching closely to see how this dual commitment plays out for one of India’s most promising young sporting talents.
