CBSE Launches Free Counselling Support for Class 10 and 12 Students Ahead of Board Exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rolled out a comprehensive psycho-social counselling initiative designed specifically for students preparing for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations in 2026. This proactive measure addresses the growing concerns around exam-related anxiety and emotional well-being among young learners.
Free Counselling Available Until June 1
This marks the first phase of the board’s annual complimentary counselling programme, which commenced today and will remain operational through June 1, 2026. Students and their parents can access the telecommunication-based support between 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM on weekdays. The service remains unavailable on Saturdays and Sundays.
Expert Panel of 73 Trained Professionals
The counselling service connects students with a dedicated team of 73 trained specialists. This diverse panel comprises school principals from CBSE-affiliated institutions, professional counsellors, special educators, and qualified psychologists. While 63 counsellors are based across India, the remaining 12 professionals extend their services from international locations including Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
Building Confidence for Board Examinations
The initiative focuses on preparing students mentally for the upcoming board exams, which are scheduled to begin on February 17, 2026. According to the board, the primary objective is to help students navigate exam-related stress and emotional challenges effectively. The programme aims to equip learners with the confidence, emotional balance, and mental clarity needed to approach their theory examinations with a positive mindset.
Round-the-Clock IVRS Support System
In addition to the counselling helpline, CBSE has introduced a 24×7 Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) support. Students and parents can reach this service by dialling 1800-118-004. The automated system provides assistance in both Hindi and English, offering valuable guidance on stress-free preparation techniques, time management strategies, answers to frequently asked questions, and essential information related to CBSE examinations.
Additional Resources on Official Website
The board has also curated a collection of resources focused on stress management, effective study methodologies, and emotional wellness. These materials are accessible through the official CBSE website and have been designed to be straightforward, practical, and easily understandable for students.
